  1. E & S Controls optional here? Where are the tree huggers and the conservation district? Lot of open dirt with no visible silt fence, and we sure get the rain in inches any more! I could not get away with this!

    • Thank you for telling me the name of the farm. If you know anyone that has photos of the farm back in the day feel free to message me and I will post them

      • wish i had photos….Mr. Quigley was old time Chester co. …he had the cutest Jack Russell that went everywhere with him. He would be horrified at the state his farm fell into….

      • PS the farm is mentioned in this old oral history I found

Sylvester Quigley was apparently very well known as well, because someone wrote to me today:

“I thought that was Syl Quigley’s farm. He has been dead since ’86, but he owned and operated Chester County Construction out of that farm. In the 60’s and 70’s he was one of the biggest site development earth moving contractors in the area. I knew him well. A guy named Jim Thompson took over the business, but ran it down. Google Sylvester Quigley Devault/Charlestown Twp, and Chester Co. Construction Devault, Pa. You might find more. Ironic that a former developer gets developed!”

        Also found this stuff:

I know Mr. Quigley was born in 1912 and as per my friend he died in 1986. I saw in a small obituary online that his wife Eleanor Ashby Quigley was a freelance artist and pre-deceased him passing away at 53 in 1972:

        January 19, 1972
“Eleanor Quigley, Free Lance Artist Dies Mrs. Eleanor L. (Ashby) Quigley, 53, wife of Sylvester Quigley, Devault, died Tuesday morning at her home following a lengthy illness”

  2. I have some wonderful photos, as this was my Grandfather’s farm. I’ll be happy to share some if someone can help me add them here…

  3. I am currently researching the Quigleys as they relate to Ellen Keohane. Would love to hear more.
