I was out in the garden and I heard this sound that was a cross between a mew and a squeak. At first I didn’t see anything and then I saw impatiens and piece of lamb’s ear move. A little toad blinked at me.

I walked away thinking I had disturbed it. It then made more sounds so I went back. It now looked stuck to me so I moved the plants to peek. A snake had the toad’s rear leg in its mouth.

Yes, ewwwwwwww.

I used a little stick with leaves on it that had fallen out of a tree to move the snake off the toad. The snake slithered back into the plants and the toad hopped to the walk and blinked at me. I don’t know if toad will make it because it’s leg was bleeding a little.

Totally weird thing to see. And I never knew toads could make those noises.
