dreams

I learned the following program for an MLK Day Celebration in 4th grade. It remains one of my favorite poems.

Dreams
By Langston Hughes, 1902 – 1967

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
