Dave Woodward was an employee of West Goshen Township for over two decades. He committed suicide in July, 2023. As per the Daily Local:
In July, John David Woodward committed suicide at his home in southern Chester County, days after he and three other directors in the township were placed on unpaid administrative leave for their part in supervising the “snow time” policy in their departments.
The four employees were allegedly accused of payroll fraud in implementing the policy, which gave public work staff time off for the hours they spent on snow removal in the township. The suit contends the department heads, including Woodward, were left believing they would be fired for implementing a policy they say had been approved by former township officials….The suit, originally filed on Oct. 19, asks for unspecified damages for negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress over the July death of Woodward, days after he and three other directors in the township were placed on unpaid administrative leave for their part in supervising the “snow time” policy in their departments.
According to the suit, Woodward committed suicide in their Kennett Square home. He reportedly left behind a note stating that “I can’t take any more of this waiting around to be fired from a job that was my life.”
So to be clear: I am not breaking ANY new ground by talking about this. This is a court case that has been being fought in Federal Court with zero media eyes on it, which is somewhat inconceivable. I am posting things publicly available from that case on PACER.
Why am I doing this? for the simple fact it needs to be out of the shadows. I feel sorry for Woodward’s family and all that they have endured.
West Goshen is secretive and shady in my humble opinion, and I am allowed that opinion. I think the media out there owe this a look see.
I am not posting everything, just a few things. Again, anyone can obtain these on PACER. You do not even have to file a formal Right To Know.
I am not seeking to sensationalize this poor man’s suicide. But his family deserves closure at a minimum, and the community is owed answers. This happened. This was real and again, maybe in my opinion alone which I am allowed, but the community deserves answers as to whether or not West Goshen caused this by their own shadiness or not, ok?
Even if the truth is not what West Goshen wants out there, whatever that ends up being, in order for people (including the family) to heal, West Goshen needs to have accountability don’t you think?
