I love finding the perfect vintage Christmas book when I can. This is one of my favorites and I especially love it because of the inscription. This book was inscribed to a little girl named Mary on Christmas Day 1944.
Marguerite de Angeli- a favorite, a Pennsylvania author/illustrator, she was/is a national treasure and this little book is a gem. Good find!

The author’s youngest son, Maurice or Maurie, was my dad’s best friend. My dad is deceased but I believe Maurie is still alive. thanks for sharing the book, it brought back memories

How cool! She is a favorite of mine because Mrs. de Angeli used to come to my elementary school Christmas book fairs – one of her best friends was our then Head Mistress’s mother. I met her a few times as a child. I have her books and I just realized recently my childhood Mother Goose book was illustrated by her. I wrote about her in another post too: http://chestercountyramblings.com/2014/11/29/childhood-christmas-memories/
