How can you not love these vintage wooden spoons? Don’t they just make you want to cook?! Vintage wooden spoons if in good shape are even just pretty to look at, but I use mine. So much more fun that new wooden spoons and for the most part are better made and utilize better woods.

it’s memorial day….pause and remember
I received a comment on my Happy Memorial Day Post from a reader that is worth cross-posting:Flag in the breeze, Philadelphia, PA 2012
Here in the sod of Europe lie thousands of Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in two World Wars.
They are buried, row upon row, under simple white crosses or Stars of David in cemeteries in Belgium, England, France, Luxembourg, Italy and the Netherlands.
They died far from home in battles and operations known as Belleau Wood, the Somme, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in World War I, or D-Day, Anzio and the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.
More than 100,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are buried in these cemeteries, looked after by the American Battle Monument Commission.
Lorraine American Cemetery in France, with 10,489 fallen, is the largest American WWII cemetery in Europe.

devon horse show 2012
It was fun to be there on the first day. Scored a killer hat from a lady from Northeast Harbor Maine who had surprisingly reasonable prices (there was one little store peddling significantly more expensive hats). She has a store called “The Romantic Room”….I showed restraint, only bought one…had a Devon burger, pink lemonade, watched horses and civilized life go by.
In short, it was a fabulous day.
There were also a plethora of plein air painters out and about.
I haven’t been a daytimer at Devon in 20 years. Did see one gal from my class in high school. It pained me that it pained her to say hello. (Not really, I found it amusing that she was as I remembered….just older.)
But seriously, Devon Horse Show was really nice today. (And I made it to my car just before the heavens opened up.)
Enjoy the photos! Find more HERE.
