#saveeasttown

I love old maps, don’t you? This is an 1870s map above and at bottom of the post, is one from around 1912. Both maps are of Easttown Township. I have several good friends who live there and many others who used to live there who are concerned about the pace of development and things in the Easttown Township, Chester County. Everything seems shall we say, developer driver and hey is term limits something they should consider for certain boards and elected positions?

Anyway, there is a renewed effort to save Easttown from itself…err I mean the township and connected parties, if I am being delicate enough? I am just posting this and interested parties can draw their own conclusions. It’s a shame that all of the investigative reporters seem to have evaporated because at a minimum Easttown’s government and boards make good theater. They also don’t seem to like recorded meetings, sunshine, or any resident who disagrees with them or doesn’t suck up.

Easttown seems to be a township governed by petty tyranny and those with limited imagination. Oh and they won’t like this opinion but thank you Baby Jesus and the First Amendment for allowing me to be bitchy when the spirit moves me. (The spirit is moving me.)

If you would like to join these concerned residents to #SaveEasttown, please do.

come on over to my virtual lawn easttown township

sign

Dear Easttown Township,

It’s called the First Amendment.

Remember?

Easttown Township is it true that y’all have some issues with Devon-area homeowners’ First Amendment rights to display lawn signs supporting preservation of their community????

Is it true that yesterday maybe someone picked up all of the “Save Devon/Don’t Rezone” signs that were up all around Devon? As in TRESPASSED on the private property of residents??? Did that REALLY happen? Or is it an suburban legend? If it is true did the taxpayers of your township just pay for that even as they are exhibiting their First Amendment rights?

People were told that perhaps some people might find the lawn signs offensive? Waaaaahhhhh you mean like the developer or involved interested parties? Since when can’t you post a lawn sign in this country?

So Easttown, I am a blogger. Call this post my virtual lawn.  I am displaying my lawn sign in support of the residents trying to preserve their community without unnecessary super-sizing and urbanizing.

I don’t think there is an ordinance prohibiting it just yet?

Easttown Township, maybe you should clear the air about this with a public statement? It would be helpful, after all, your residents LOVE where they live and they are just trying to protect where they call home.

Hugs and kisses,

Me

Devon

talk about a quickie

Main Line Media News is reporting that Easttown Supervisors conducted ALL their business in 11 and 1/2 minutes. I  guess this occurred last night?

I can’t help but wonder is that good government or speed dating for municipalities? I am hoping my pal and fellow blogger Pattye Benson over at Community Matters will have something on this as this really is her turf – you know the T.E. of it all (although truthfully I see more Tredyffrin on her blog).  Pattye is also chief innkeeper and bottle washer at The Great Valley House in Valley Forge – a very cool historic bed & breakfast.
