librarygate….in honey brook. is a 501(c)(3) playing politics, or bowing to them?

So recently, I expressed my thoughts on the Honey Brook Community Library suddenly deciding no candidate meet and greets would take place at their facility. To my understanding this is not a political party gathering, it’s a community meet and greet of all candidates of various offices and political parties for an upcoming election. What I was also told is the library lady told people on the phone that the library was uncomfortable given the political climate in Honey Brook Township. Yes I am paraphrasing, but anyway, here is what I said:

I think something has to be said about the situation involving the Honey Brook Library of it all and Valerie Shultz for Honey Brook Township Supervisor. The latest thing to fly around this bucolic municipality with the rotten underbelly, is that Val is a hater of libraries and they go further to intimate that she’s somehow “threatening” or “bullying” the library.

The library in Honey Brook historically has done political meet and greets until THIS election.

All of a sudden they were uncomfortable, and people were being told that some were fearful of doing a meet and greet? Val didn’t argue with them, she respected their position, but she like many of us have questioned the timing of it.

Sorry, not sorry the timing is totally suspect and that’s just common sense and if you go back to the most recent meeting for the supervisors, they had to go (and they meeting the library) proverbial hat in hand to ask for money from the municipality.

The way things work with bully or thug politics is often somewhat subversive and behind the scenes whisper down the lane where nobody overtly says an organization won’t get money that they need but they might intimate along the lines of maybe they won’t get as much because the political cabal is uncomfortable with Val running.

It is my belief and my opinion that any organization that needed money from Honey Brook Township would be discouraged this election season to do meet and greets.

This shouldn’t be the way it happens, but am I wrong? It’s bullying pure and simple, of Val AND the library? OK so the talking hoodie doesn’t want to debate, but are they so afraid of both candidates being at a meet and greet with other candidates?

These meet and greets feature all sorts of candidates running, including judicial. Just a little food for thought.

Of course the talking hoodie had to post a screenshot. Not that I care. That is an OPINION and they haven’t revoked the first Amendment yet that I know of.

This is shared because the library director was tagged personally, which is rather inappropriate – NOT her fault, just pointing it out.

Sooo before I get to the meat of the matter, let us address his accusation that Valerie Shultz is being terrible to the library. Honeys, I have it in writing and this is what Valerie said which was calm and measured (much like speaking to Valerie is):

Here is the text of the email in case you have a hard time reading the screenshot:

Jennifer,

First, I would like to thank you for working so well with Aurora, a member of my campaign team, for weeks to make the meet-n-greet candidate night a success.  I’m just saddened that your team felt unsafe by hosting the event and had to withdraw your offer to host.  Aurora indicated that you had been tagged in a FB post that led to your discomfort with hosting.  I want to assure you that at no time did I or a member of my campaign team tag the library in a post.  Unfortunately, there has been a pervasive effort by my opponent to intimidate anyone who provides me with a forum to speak to residents.  I am sincerely sorry if that indeed was what happened to your team.

Secondly, I wanted to make you aware that I was campaigning in the Township yesterday and when I unknowingly visited a member of the library board, I was accused of spreading lies about the library then had a door slammed in my face.  I do not know what lies I am alleged with having spread because she would not explain.  I want to make it clear that at the last Supervisors meeting I asked about the latest donation to the library because I was concerned about the impact on the budget.   It’s my job to ask those questions and the library is not the only instance where I have asked about expenditures.  I want residents to understand how their tax money is being spent.  I was in no way implying that I do not support the library.  I believe the library is a critical part of our community.  I am an elected auditor for the Township and have been carefully watching expenses for the last 2 years to ensure we are not headed for a tax increase.  I would ask if you are aware of what was so upsetting to one of your board members that you please inform me so that I can clear up any misconception or misinformation.  As a candidate for Supervisor, I want to have a excellent working relationship with you and your board should I be elected.  Please feel free to call me if you’d prefer to speak instead of email.  My cell is [REDACTED]

Regards,

Valerie Shultz

Here was library lady’s reply:

So all can read:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Aurora, a regular library patron, who has never identified herself as affiliated with any particular organization or team, approached us about hosting a meet-and-greet event. Due to our limited staffing following our recent reopening, and after much insistence, we agreed to provide venue space only, with no involvement in event planning or logistics.

We subsequently removed this event from our schedule based on our standard evaluation process for all programming. We are deeply concerned about false statements suggesting external pressure influenced our decision-making. These claims are categorically untrue. This decision was made independently by library leadership to ensure alignment with our educational mission and community service goals.

As a community institution, we will not tolerate the spread of false information that damages our reputation and undermines public trust. Such misinformation has created legitimate daily security concerns for our staff and patrons due to the inflammatory rhetoric being shared online. The safety of everyone who enters our library is our highest priority. We take these security concerns seriously.

We remain committed to transparent communication with our community. We welcome respectful feedback and constructive dialogue about our programming. Our doors remain open, and we encourage community members to communicate with us directly about any concerns rather than engaging with unverified information online.

The library exists to serve all residents through educational programming, resources, and services. We will continue making decisions that support this mission while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in our community. We remain committed to our mission of educating and serving the Honey Brook community with integrity and professionalism.

I call BS on the library lady and here is why:

So all can read easily:

I would like to inform everyone that the Honey Brook Library sent an email they are no longer comfortable hosting our meet and greet. Please see below.

Hi Aurora,

Due to the way this upcoming political election is playing out online on social media, the Honey Brook Community Library will no longer be hosting a meet and greet event at the library on Oct 8.  We are concerned about the safety of our staff and building.  I hope that you have enough time to find an alternate place for your event.

Thank you,

And then there is this:

Once again a false narrative…and you’re lying when you say “ I can’t make this stuff up” because that’s all you do!!

I had a phone conversation with Jennifer, the director of the library, and asked her flat out! During our conversation she said that her staff was concerned about their safety and the intimidation tactics that you and Sal employ!

You talk about Honey Brook Twp being a bucolic community. I know it’s a big word. Perhaps you should look up the definition because your contentious behavior doesn’t align. Plain and simple. You’re just an overgrown, adult bully.

So then the trustees of the Honey Brook Community Library released a statement a couple of hours ago:

Here is the verbiage in case the screen capture is blurry:

A Statement from our Board of Trustees:

Honey Brook Community Library exists to serve our entire community through educational programming, resources, and services that enrich the lives of all residents. As a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are deeply committed to this mission and take seriously our responsibility to create an environment where every community member feels welcome, safe, and able to pursue learning and personal growth.

This commitment requires us to exercise careful judgment in our programming decisions. As a private organization, we maintain full discretion over the events we host, grounded in constitutional protections for freedom of association and our rights as private property owners.

Our Executive Director, supported by the board, makes these decisions independently, guided solely by our institutional mission to educate and serve the community. We are not bound by external pressures or influences that might compromise our primary obligation to maintain the library as a neutral educational resource for all residents.

Libraries have always been sanctuaries of learning, reflection, and peaceful discourse. Our community expects and deserves a space where they can engage with ideas, conduct research, participate in educational programs, and find respite. Libraries, while champions of intellectual freedom, must also maintain environments conducive to their core educational purposes. This means we must sometimes decline to host events that might compromise the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere that defines library spaces or that could create barriers to access for any members of our community.

We value feedback from our community and encourage open discussion. While not everyone will agree, we ask that all comments remain respectful. Our goal is to educate and serve the community, and we’ll continue working toward that with integrity.

Our commitment to community betterment remains unwavering while preserving the neutral, inclusive environment that makes libraries essential community resources.

Respectfully,

I love libraries. Have friends who are and were librarians different places. But to this library I simply ask are you playing politics or bowing to politics? Either way, you are a 501(c)(3) and you best think about that carefully. That is not a threat or anything other than they are a registered non-profit.

Isn’t it true the League of Women Voters meets there? So why can’t they, like their branches in many other areas, host a meet and greet at a library? It’s not one candidate, it’s as many as wish to show up. It’s a community thing and benign. A library should be neutral and neutral ground. But this is Honey Brook and it’s like a corn field Tammany Hall.

That is all I have got but the library lady does in fact need to get her story straight, don’t you think? If they are concerned because of a highly charged political atmosphere, can’t blame them. But the problem is they have done these gatherings before.

If Honey Brook Community Library is not doing this kind of gathering this year, then perhaps they need to issue a policy going forward that they aren’t hosting meet and greets of a political nature period. That way there is no confusion on the topic or suspicions of motivations.

Enjoy the day.

“cold” feds in lincoln court in east whiteland township chester county this morning.

Earlier this morning in Lincoln Court Shopping Center Chester County. Apparently that was the second time today?

Yes. ICE. I did NOT take the photos. Others who work there in the shopping center did.

Yes police know they are around. They are here on things based on active warrants. That hypothetically means it could be a more traditional criminal type of warrant or a warrant for expired visas, or someone who was previously deported and came back illegally.

Since this surfaced today, I will admit that it is a very odd feeling when it’s a place you specifically know. There are small businesses here, the driver’s license center, a Giant supermarket, state liquor store, oh and a Mexican restaurant that is a community favorite.

I get that the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers AKA ICE have a job to do but seeing it in our home communities? It strikes a sad, odd, uncomfortable, horrible chord.

This combined with Washington DC seeming to morph into a police state the past few days? What is our country becoming ironically as we prepare for the Semiquincentennial?

Purportedly, 2026 marks a time to celebrate the birth of American independence and democracy, but who and what are we now?

I just don’t know. It makes me sad.

from squirrel time to secret squirrel in west goshen

Ahhh West Goshen Township, the I Spy Municipality.

Always it’s a secret something. Now it’s once again, their residents can’t know what their taxpayer dollars are for.

About a year ago in the land of jolly squirrel time, they meaning West Goshen hired a consultant for HR, Roseann McGrath. It was a name I knew well, because she was the HR Goddess at Lower Merion Township. (Ahh yes the good old days when her hubs was also the police superintendent.)

I always liked Roseann McGrath. Very nice lady, but it always was somewhat of a conundrum for me how she wasn’t a nepo wifey when her hubs became police superintendent? I actually couldn’t figure it all along but it was just one of those great mysteries of Lower Merion Township who still uses their classification of First Class Township to mean other than it should. After all, Caln is also a First Class Township, although I don’t find much first class about it in general, but I digress.

Anywhoooo, Roseann came to try to unsnarl I am sure a giant squirrel time mess in West Goshen. (She also was a consultant in East Whiteland at one time.) Here is what is on West Goshen’s website about her consultancy:

So, she charges $125 an hour, billed in 15 minute increments?

Anyway, the study is apparently complete yet although it is paid for by tax dollars, it’s a top secret thingymaboo. It’s a pay study. Employee current pay by categories. Only the public can’t see it.

Why can’t residents see this study? Why is West Goshen so secretive about salaries in general? Are salary dollars earned subjective? Do men make more than woman? Are there pay disparities residents and employees are unaware of? I hear that even employees don’t know what is in this magical study contains and wouldn’t you think employees should know? There are no unions in West Goshen except for police department so why not show their math work like you used to have to in math class?

West Goshen Sunshine asked about study results being available at a couple of meetings. It kind was treated as “NEXT.” And then she submitted a right to know. This is what came back:

Essentially everything was redacted like a classified CIA or FBI document…but they included Mrs. McGrath’s bill…but you can’t see anything else. J. Edgar Hoover where you at? (Kidding as he was a Washington DC horror show long ago.)

I am curious to know what they are hiding and so do residents and employees, right? If there is nothing bad, why can’t anyone see? My hypothesis is they are hiding stuff and what exactly? My hypothesis is squirrel time etc over the years may have been expensive yet there were pay disparities based upon who you were, your sex, etc., etc??? I mean if they aren’t that township any longer why are they still that township?

I mean Ghislaine Maxwell never visited so what’s the problem?

This website has lots of free info : https://govsalaries.com/state/PA However if you look up West Goshen they have not done much updating there since 2017 and why is that? What. Are. They. Hiding??? And why not use the tools PSATS offers municipalities? (https://www.psats.org/get-customizable-salary-insights-now-with-the-psats-salary-survey/)

West Goshen has not liked (I am sure) that they are on the Hello West Chester radar (it’s $24 a year to subscribe and ever edition is chock full of interesting.) And hell they have never like being on my radar ever since the days of residents should be werry werry qwiet.

West Goshen also had an issue this year with wanting to ditch meeting recordings, remember? That didn’t work out in their favor did it? Traditional media should do a deep dive into West Goshen and this salary study of it all in my opinion. And more residents should be submitting right to know requests. And going en masse to meetings demanding answers (politely.)

Taxpayer money paid for the consultant and the study. Taxpayers deserve answers. It’s pretty much that simple.

is it time for suffragettes to be reborn in 2025?

I don’t write much these days about national politics. In some aspects I think women have to be careful because we’re being targeted. That sounds paranoid, but is it really?

So there’s a headline that’s been bothering me and it concerns the seemingly pickled Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

It started with a sub stack post by Heather Cox Richardson.

Then I followed her links to NPR and The Guardian.

https://www.npr.org/2025/08/09/nx-s1-5497226/women-pastor-pete-hegseth-vote

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/09/pete-hegseth-video-pastors-women-voting

So Hegseth has reposted and shared an interview from some Christian Nationalist pastor or minister of some militant Christian church who says women shouldn’t be able to vote. Essentially it should be up to our husbands. And there are other cuckoo ministers who seem to agree with this man.

OK, I’m going to curse here and if you don’t like it, turn away from this blog now, but what the actual F people?

None of this is OK. Even having to talk about it is not OK for all that the suffragettes went through with all of the people involved in the suffragist movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries I can’t even believe we are here again? This guy actually has said out loud in an interview for CNN that women shouldn’t vote and the Secretary of Defence for the United States of America in 2025 re-shared this which is his implied agreement and consent.

And this tool also says things that women are people that people come out of, yet apparently according to him we all shouldn’t do that either because I guess he must have parameters on how women should spawn?

It doesn’t really matter what your political persuasion is. I think we can all agree that we all should have the right to vote in this country as US citizens.

Until the National Park Service is forced to take it down, they have a nice list of suffragists we should know. (CLICK HERE)

People we are not all Mississippi on this bus. Why do I mention Mississippi? Simple – Mississippi didn’t ratify the 19th Amendment or woman’s right to vote until 1984!

I guess people take for granted that English common law saw a woman with no legal status of her own and women was legally considered indistinct from their husbands.

The demand for women’s suffrage has roots in the 18th century, but it really didn’t take hold until the 19th century.

The first women’s rights convention was around 1848. It was called the Seneca Falls convention and was an upstate New York in the finger lakes region. Then there was the Rochester Women’s Rights convention the same year also in New York State. In 1850 there was the Ohio Women’s Convention. Also that year there was the first National Women’s Rights Convention in Massachusetts.

The Civil War interrupted suffrage movements in the United States. After the war was over, there was another National Women’s Rights Convention. In the 1870s the suffragist movement grew.

In the 1870s Susan B Anthony was taken to court for trying to cast her vote in a presidential election. Susan B. Anthony was arrested for violating the Enforcement Act of 1870 by casting a vote in the 1872 presidential election.

During Susan B Anthony’s trial, the judge apparently instructed the jury to find her guilty.

According to a Wikipedia page on women’s suffrage:

When [the judge] asked Anthony, who had not been permitted to speak during the trial, if she had anything to say, she responded with what one historian has called “the most famous speech in the history of the agitation for woman suffrage”.[120]She called “this high-handed outrage upon my citizen’s rights”, saying, “… you have trampled under foot every vital principle of our government. My natural rights, my civil rights, my political rights, my judicial rights, are all alike ignored.”[128] The judge sentenced Anthony to pay a fine of $100, she responded, “I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty”, and she never did.[120]However the judge did not order her to be imprisoned until she paid the fine, for Anthony could have appealed her case.[126]

So how ironic is it really the Donald Trump during his first administration pardoned Susan B Anthony? Yep it’s true, On August 18, 2020 he pardoned her on the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment. The ones so-called women’s suffrage amendment was introduced Congress in 1878. It was not ratified until it became the 19th amendment in 1919.

So now Trump’s Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is supportive of a minister who wants to roll back the clock on women? Is this a drinking game or something?

No one should be OK with this.

For more information on what it took to get women the right to vote I found many interesting pieces to read. Here is one that’s stuck with me:

yo penndot, stop messing with our bbq and other businesses’ access.

Welcome to Hell on Earth by PennDOT.

This is Route 29 in East Whiteland Township Chester County.

Forget about the fact for a moment that we’ve lost track of how many times they’ve remediated this sinkhole already, and concentrate on every single time PennDot comes to do work, they almost put businesses out of business and who knows how many businesses actually failed over time because of their construction?

They can’t just tell State Senator Katie Muth’s office and other elected officials that they have put in a lane so people can turn it’s not as simple as that and the traffic is horrendous.

And once again with PennDot, the project started late and it won’t finish anywhere near on time. FarmBoy BBQ and the other businesses around here need our support. And complaining to Penndot about their projects and how long they take and how the roads are also doesn’t hurt.

Seriously it’s bad. I took this video as a passenger in a car today on a weekend day because I would not be on the stretch of highway Monday through Friday. It’s horrendous.

I’m not saying this project didn’t need to happen, I want to be clear about that again. Of course it had to happen. There’s a sink hole again. But PennDOT announces these projects, tells you when they’re going to start, then they don’t start on that date like they are supposed to, and then they never finish on time…. and it’s endless.

These businesses and their employees are struggling. Actually people in developments I don’t like right around here are also struggling. Anybody who has to use this stretch of road for whatever reason is struggling, and that I am told it even includes the tow truck people who have to respond to accidents. Since they are being held up because of this construction. and since they help first responders at accident scenes, that’s kind of bad news, right?

PennDOT has a job to do, but they need to do it better and they need to care about the residents, commuters, and the small businesses they are affecting over on Route 29 a.k.a. Moorhall Road.

I’m hoping that when people see this, they will actually complain to Penndot as well as supporting the businesses along here who are affected. We got firsthand experience as to what this was all about today when we went to FarmBoy barbecue for a delicious lunch.

ego and ignorance in local politics seems out of control in honey brook township?

Let’s talk about ego and ignorance in local politics. Is it out of control in Honey Brook Township? I think so. It started because quite frankly, Valerie Shultz didn’t roll over like an obedient dog and be a good little girl. She has had the temerity, the audacity if you will, to want better for her community than the status quo. She is on the ballot as a second Republican running because the Democrats wrote her in. That simple fact speaks volumes, and signals she would be a community unifier except where the current political cabal is concerned. But nothing except world domination, or in their case, fishbowl domination matters, does it?

Valerie does not come to mind when you dish ego and ignorance in local politics. She is doing this because she cares. It’s not about literal or even perceived personal gain. She does not have to keep saying she is a good person, because people know she is. She has a moral compass and is bright and hard working. We have come to know each other through mutual friends. Do I support her? Yes, I believe in what she is trying to accomplish and I haven’t seen such a crazy municipality since the late Andy Lewis and others rolled up their sleeves to disinfect Haverford Township and if you aren’t familiar it was a doozy of a time over there.

Here is what I am talking about from quite a few years ago now:

https://law.justia.com/cases/pennsylvania/supreme-court/2014/39-map-2011.html

https://caselaw.findlaw.com/pa-supreme-court/1684638.html

https://www.poconorecord.com/story/opinion/editorials/2007/12/01/thumbs-up-thumbs-down/52723944007

Let’s talk about what is actually bullying by politicians, one elected and one a poor sad politician puppet of the elected politician, shall we? This is happening in an area which falls into the Pennsyltucky category at times for political behavior JUST like this. Yep, Honey Brook Township…again.

When you say they are practicing thug politics and bullying people and basically in a passive aggressive and not so passive aggressive way, trying to intimidate people, they subsequently project that if you are saying they do any of these things you must be the ones who are actually doing it, and really?

Most of us know that’s not the case, but if you are a woman who speaks out about ANY of this garbage chucking in Honey Brook Township, they want to pummel you into the ground. And this is the Internet so they also want to cancel you on social media. They want you to be afraid. It’s also gaslighting and attempted intimidation, isn’t it?

So I ask all of you out there isn’t that the true clear hallmark of bad thug politics? Doesn’t that show quite clearly that they have such little respect for women?

You have to wonder how do they treat women who have been assaulted or are victims of other crimes?

As women are we all supposed to be hung up with Scarlet letters because we don’t toe the line the way we are told? Are we all supposed to be bullied ends justifies the means because we don’t see them as a solution to anything?

Go ahead, you read these comments shared below (just a couple examples of many questionable things on their part in my humble opinion) and you tell me if women are being harassed and bullied here? Are women safe in this world we are living in if this is considered normal behavior towards women?

And most despicable of all in my mind as a breast cancer survivor is this is how you treat another breast cancer survivor? These men need to check themselves at the door.
Chester County Republicans and others? It’s time to get your Honey Brook Township House in order because they are also embarrassing all of you behaving like this.

Conduct unbecoming.

Writing about this leaves me at sixes and sevens, but I don’t think what they are doing is right. Have they attacked me as well for talking about the Honey Brook Township of it all? Kind of, yes, including nasty comments from a supervisor’s wife thinking she is witty. (Sorry her comments are well…just basic and I can have that opinion.)

Isn’t it true that there are certain lines politicians and elected officials can’t cross? Wouldn’t this behavior count? Isn’t it true supervisors are expected to protect confidential information and not use it for personal gain? So where is one getting his information? And how? Supervisors are also supposed to treat all individuals with respect and courtesy, is this behavior that? Supervisors must exercise their powers responsibly and avoid abusing their authority, correct?

So can we just ask WHY Honey Brook Township Supervisor Salvatore DiGiacomo is constantly on the attack? Is he running for office? I thought that was politician and Upper Uwchlan Police Department member, Steven Jones?

Now speaking o Upper Uwchlan Township, they do indeed have a social media policy so is their officer who is also a politician and political candidate in Honey Brook Township adhering to it? https://upperuwchlan-pa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1417/Social-Media-Policy

Upper Uwchlan employees from what I can glean from their policy should be respectful in their online interactions, avoiding personal attacks, offensive language, and discriminatory remarks, so is this happening? Like many other municipalities, this policy which is not something thought of years ago, extends beyond the official township social media profiles, doesn’t it? Also is it not in there that their policy addresses confidentiality, privacy, and intellectual property, ensuring employees understand responsibilities regarding sensitive information, right? The policy seems to not smile upon personal attacks against other commenters, Township staff, or elected officials, so this extends to things done personally, right?

I think it’s time for the dirty politics in Honey Brook Township to end. Residents need to be brave because these unpleasant folks only have the power you allow them to have. I fully expect more nastiness because I am expressing my opinion. They refer to me as Val’s babbler, etc, etc. Yawn.

Stop the madness. It’s time. We should all want better from our communities. We all don’t have to agree, but how these politicians seem to approach everything leaves a lot to be desired.

It’s a long way to election day. It’s been a long hot summer. Why is Valerie Shultz such a threat? I ask because we all know this is what this is about. That’s why a certain supervisor and his pal are in such a lather isn’t it?

Carry on.

more doing the open space thing in east whiteland?

Soooo….last year I had posted about this odd triangle parcel off Old Swedesford/Swedesford Road in East Whiteland. It looks like it was sold at some point in 2024 and I got a note today from someone that says:

Keeping you updated. Looks the property sold in October. We just noticed some people out there holding what looks like site plans. We really hope they aren’t planning on putting some commercial property in there in such a small residential community.

Coincidentally, it seemed to have shown up on an East Whiteland agenda for this week. Last evening‘s meeting as a matter of fact. 3a.

If anyone has any answers as to what is happening with this property, people are all ears. What seems to be happening on the video snippet that I am about to share, is a potential acquisition by East Whiteland Township to keep it as open space, which would be great because there are residential neighborhoods back there. So I don’t know if that would mean passive open space leaving it wooded or creating a more park like setting in part of it maybe throwing in a small playground? If what said on the video is true I would say that some township residents over there have possibly dodged a bullet, right?

Before properties were sold last October is above – and note technically there are two parcels. I only had the bigger parcel information from before it was sold in 2024.

Below are both parcels, large and small. I have also included a little screenshot of the bare bones schematic of ChescoPin, so people can visualize the area better.

Where the new property owners potentially selling to East Whiteland have correspondence sent is 120 Pennsylvania Ave Malvern PA 19355. Now that address is in the Borough of Malvern that’s tucked out of the way. But it’s whose address that is that I found potentially interesting and will anyone else?

That area is back on the other side of the train tracks from what you know is King Street or the main drag of Malvern Borough. It’s back off Bridge Street and that Old Lancaster Road area. Of course that address comes up on Malvern Borough’s website.

Life is so interestingly connected, isn’t it?

Anyway, good on East Whiteland if they’re stopping development there by a land purchase. If this is what has happened this of course means the open space referendum is working some more, doesn’t it? I guess now the East Whiteland Open Space Committee or someone review things?

in radnor, environmentally friendly turf fields and other fairy tales? neat!

So if you want to visit the 2025 Time Machine for the Main Line, you will remember back towards the winter into the early spring there was a lot of chatter about the much lauded Agnes Irwin School in Radnor Township right? Nasty glare bomb lights? A dog and pony show at a Radnor Township meeting by the school and a former member of the police force now Agnes Irwin security living in a house the school owns that used to belong to someone’s parents I went to school with many moons ago? (Ahh yes I remember it well….or so the line from an old show tune goes….)

I don’t think very much happened with regard to the lights. And I don’t think Radnor Township backed up the neighbors much at all?

Anyway, around that time, it also came out that they were proposing turf fields. I should say proposing turf fields again, because Agnes Irwin has run into issues before having to do with turf fields haven’t they? All you have to do is go do an archive search of Main Line Media News…. or ask people who remember.

So if you are a neighbor of Agnes Irwin, are they treating you the neighbors with respect? I mean it’s been bad enough the past couple/few years as parking everywhere seems to have become normal rather than occasional, correct?

I do not recall that the lights seemed particularly better now? I mean you would hope by now they would’ve at least changed the kind of bulbs so it was less glare bomb right? All should be shaded down too, right?

So with the lights, etc. that’s one giant demerit for them in the environmentally, friendly aspect isn’t it? Isn’t it well documented what lights do to the flight paths of migrating birds and nature? And interrupting human sleep cycles?

So now everything is all torn up because they’re putting in turf fields. I also seemed to recall that the turf field they are creating on the playing fields that run alongside the one side of those residential streets off of Conestoga they abut goes to the creek, doesn’t it? We all know what it takes to “recycle” turf fields, correct? Isn’t it like places where they just dump the old rolls of turf they don’t like really recycle them per se do they?

Artificial turf can contain PFAS right? It also breaks down over time, releasing microplastic particles into the environment. Irwins has been saying that their turf is carbon neutral? OK so that might mean they’re using recycled plastic maybe? It still doesn’t negate all the other potential issues, does it? Sorry not sorry I don’t believe the carbon neutral turf actually helps the environment or mitigates climate change. My opinion is that this is the Emperor’s New Sporty Clothes. But you can bet that it’s really really expensive, right?

It’s ridiculously hard to recycle artificial turf. That is the reality. It ends up in landfills, doesn’t it? If you Google, you can see pictures of like fields or piles of it in landfills.

Something else is it contributes to something they call “heat island effects.” So it’s not real, it’s fake so as opposed to grass, it absorbs and retains more heat. Which means that Agnes Irwin is going to possibly heat up residential neighbors as well isn’t it?

Artificial turf also contributes to loss of habitat for nature and wildlife. Turf doesn’t need to be watered per se, but again what happens when water even rains runs off turf? Pollutants, right?

So Agnes Irwin is trying to build its legacy to itself. In my humble opinion, they’re desperately trying to compete with the other private schools in the vicinity. Can they compete? I don’t know. My opinion remains that their obsession over the years with turf fields says to me they are concerned with the wrong things. Athletics are great, but is there a true balance with academics?

And if you notice in one of the pictures that were taken from a public road with no trespassing, you will notice there’s a split rail fence between the school and the public streets and neighbors, right?

I think that the school needs to put up a more permanent kind of fence which cuts down on cut throughs. You know like a 6 foot wrought iron looking fence and screening landscaping that is properly and consistently maintained? The reality is them putting in fields like this means they’re going to have to make them pay because they are that expensive.

Other schools with fields like this will often rent their fields, I think they should spare the neighbors by putting up a more permanent fence so the neighbors don’t have any more unintended consequences to deal with and they do already having a private school as a neighbor.

So a good fence might make for good neighbors right? (And it would cut down on those pesky cut through and parking all over neighborhood streets, wouldn’t it?)

Agnes Irwin has its turf fields being built, so now it’s time for them to stop being selfish jerks to the neighbors and do better, don’t you agree?

As for Radnor Township, people are complaining that they changed the route of the Garrett Hill 4th of July parade when hello perspective? This is kind of the stuff that matters in the bigger picture, isn’t it? I mean to me the whole thing with these turf fields / glare bomb lights and Radnor Township kind of reminds me of all they haven’t done in North /West Wayne about stormwater management over the years , doesn’t it?

And no matter what you think, these fields are not environmentally friendly, and shame on those involved. And at the end of the day, turf fields also aren’t particularly easy on human joints are they?

Just another rather predictable and to a contentious issue in Radnor. It makes you wonder when residents will actually matter again or should I say all residents?

it’s philthadelphia freedom: good job mayor parker!

I saw the below collage floating on Facebook publicly. The above photo was shared by a friend of mine.

And Cherellle Parker? She is just the way I thought she would be. She be the Queen of PHILTHADELPHIA, hear her roar, and I am sure she has a dozen more pressers planned.

Big mouth do nothing PHILTHADELPHIA politician.

People in that city had the opportunity for better mayoral choices but no….and here we are….July 4th weekend….good job (again) Cherelle…you are trashy, indeed.

@delli420

Make it make sense please. Mayor Cherelle Parker allegedly gave herself and staff all pay raises while letting DC33 go on strike. The city is overflowing with trash on random blocks and parks, this is crazy. #greenscreen #philly #trash #strike #dc33 #phillytiktok

Mayor Cherelle L. Parker this is disgusting! Picking up the trash in the city but leaving the neighborhoods of Philadelphia like this is unacceptable. More dumpsters need to be supplied and spread out on every block. As well as an agreement with union needs to be made by tomorrow. This is a horrible look on the city of Philly @nbcphiladelphia #phillytiktok #philly #trash

can someone explain what happened in west chester yesterday?

Allow me to preface what I am about to show you with this was a public post. It was sent to me then I found it and all little 🌎 globe meaning all public. I’m not infringing upon anyone’s copyright and you can see who posted it. I do not know if the same person who posted it was the same person who took the video.

Now I can answer that question above for this woman whom I don’t know about no media reports yet, and I will say based upon what she posts, her political views in the majority are completely different from mine. And that’s fine, to each their own, but she’s not wrong in questioning was this guy planning.

Now back to her asking why no media picked it up so far. That’s a simple answer because there are two reporters for the Daily Local. One does courts and crime, and the other does more generalized stories and has occasional overlap with the aforementioned crime reporter. But people, as far as a local paper, that’s it for the entire county. The paper is owned by a hedge fund that owns a mash up of a bunch of other local papers, and they miss a lot. Simply put, all of what is left of these local papers are lacking feet on the street and it’s not the editors’ fault there are NOT ENOUGH feet on the street. It’s because they’re owned by a hedge fund. A hedge fund in my opinion is not in it for the news, they’re in it because these are like distressed assets or something, aren’t they?

As for regional and television media, I think they were more interested in major metropolitan cities/areas because that’s where they expected a problem which is common sense in a way. Honestly, I don’t think they expected anything like this to turn up in West Chester. However, I’m jaded and I expect things like this to turn up anywhere.

I was not at the protest yesterday. And I had a feeling about all of these protests and figured this was simply not my scene. Maybe I just watch too many Nordic noir and ITV/BBC crime dramas. I actually asked a friend in her upper years to stay home. I know that probably annoyed her on some level, but she is treasured by me so I told her how I felt.

Anyway we don’t know why this happened or who this male person was. None of us are medical health professionals, so we can’t opine on that, and you hear about that in the video I’m about to share. I will say, however, in defense of whomever that was speaking in the background, that political extremists on either side are gaslighting things on message boards and social media in my opinion. It is also my opinion they are artificially inflating at times what is happening politically in this country, and honestly, the truth is bad enough.

We don’t know what political persuasion this person who was arrested was, or what they were doing there. But is this a first time people have exhibited extreme and potentially dangerous behavior like this? No, it is simply that social media didn’t exist in those times.

We don’t know what they were carrying other than what you could hear the police discussing on the video. And what you could see them removing from his person.

Either way that’s kind of something that really gives you pause doesn’t it if we can’t even have our inalienable right to a peaceful assembly, what are we coming to in this country?

And do I believe that this was a person on the same side as the people peacefully exercising their right to protest yesterday in West Chester? Honestly, no. I think it falls into the same category of the people who turned up at the protest in Philadelphia and then trashed the city. Individuals and seperate groups like this are more opportunistic or separatist. Perhaps I’m not explaining that eloquently enough, but that’s my gut check on it. This was ONE person yesterday as far as anyone knows.

All I do know is this puts regular people and law enforcement at risk.

Above all else it makes me sad to think that occurred in West Chester.

A little shout out to West Chester‘s public information officer. He deserves much credit for not ignoring this and addressing it. So many public information officers in municipalities everywhere today like to pretend things like this don’t happen. They only want to share the happy fluffy things and we definitely don’t live in a happy fluffy world.

Please be safe out there. Once again as Americans we are relearning the lesson that liberty and freedom aren’t necessarily free.
