I love my Santas! I have collected them for years, and none will break the bank (most barn picked or from tag sales). To me, they are just part of what makes a house a home at Christmas!
Joining the Santas in this windowsill Christmas tableau is the beautiful amaryllis I received as a gift at Thanksgiving.

This is a prominent township landmark which used to be on a small tenant farm of 23 acres. The core was built c. 1810. It was the office and residence of Dr. Andrew Wills (c. 1829) and Dr. David D. King (c. 1842). It housed the headquarters of West Whiteland Silica Company (1905-1910). It was adapted for commercial use as a bank in 1964 and renovated in 2000.
In other words, this structure is a historic asset?

I received the above spam text at the end of October of this year.
I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (it’s easy and only takes a minute or two CLICK HERE.)
I found out at the end of last week that a gentleman in St. Louis, MO named Kevin Etzkorn filed a law suit against the 3 Day Blinds company for just the same reason. I do not know this person in St. Louis at all.
Below is what was filed. I am guessing that the days of this company and others doing things like this may hopefully be limited? Even non-profits should pay attention to this – I have had one recently send me a text message solicitation and I found it to be a turn off to the non-profit I have formerly given donations to.
If this litigation is successful, it will set precedence here, won’t it?
Dear Pennsylvania State Game Commission,
I have no problem with legal hunting, but illegal hunting concerns me greatly.
A couple of Sundays ago at dusk a first grader was with his dad. The first grader looks up and sees a hunter in a make shift stand in a tree in woods adjacent to their woods.
A deer hunter with a gun. On a Sunday, no less. That is not legal in any dimension, let alone in such close proximity to houses.
A call to the game commission office responsible for Chester County (610-926-3136) was not exactly satisfactory. You see, the person taking the calls didn’t want to talk to anyone unless it was their personal safety zone and where the hunter was was adjacent to the personal safety zone of the caller. They were next door, so essentially the person taking calls for the game commission had a case of the customer service snotties.
Pennsylvania Game Commission, you can’t have it both ways. You want us as citizens to report illegal hunting, right? Then make it easier on us. Take the reports if we are taking the time to telephone you people.
Illegal hunting is illegal hunting and I keep hearing about it this year in Chester County. More than in years past.
Just today I heard about bow hunters in a residential neighborhood in Willistown. This is not ok. And no, people can’t just trespass and hunt.
Illegal hunting and poaching gives legitimate hunters an unfairly bad rap. It is also dangerous. In November a New York woman was shot and killed by a hunter less than a 100 yards from her property.
If you see illegal hunting, get to where you are safe and call the police. Don’t confront them.
I love my own personal Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom that lives in our woods and in the gardens. This year I have some new winter residents, Eastern Bluebirds. I first saw them a month ago, and then I saw them again just now. It’s official, I’m in love.
These are the things that make living here in Chester County, PA so darn special. These are the things we need to conserve and preserve. These are the things that all the wanton development spoils. Tyvec wrapped stick frame construction with nary a tree to be seen can never, ever replace the simple joy of seeing bluebirds in your garden.
Anyway, if you enjoy the birds one of the things you can do is participate in Cornell’s Feeder Watch. It’s fun! (My husband doesn’t know it yet, but I signed us back up!)
Sometimes, you just have to slow down and admire the beauty of a December sky. Every season and every month is different.
These are the things that make me so happy to see!
And yes, these farmhouses are indeed part of the architectural history of Chester County, Pennsylvania.

This is where I don’t understand the Catholic Church. And I am Catholic. It is Christmas time and this is what is chosen to go on display instead of Christmas decorations or a nativity scene.
Yes I know, they did it to prove a point to make an impact, but doing it at Christmas is somehow offensive.
I am not getting into the pro-life versus pro-choice debate here, all I’m saying is it’s Christmas so why can’t we reflect the season instead of this? When did being a Catholic meant it was an angry God? Churches do this so often at this point that I don’t know if it’s doing anything other than just turning people off to Catholicism.
I find all these little crosses and the sign offensive. Why always that? I mean if you’re going to take a stand how about taking a stand about all the people dying from drug overdoses? Or all of the people dying because of the violence in this country? Or suffering because of poverty?
Why does it always have to be this argument? And why does this argument have to be on display around Christmas?
I hope this church shows some Christmas spirit soon and gets back to the meaning of the season.

Tonight we went to Malvern’s Victorian Christmas. I have sponsored a lamp post Christmas tree the past couple of years and we couldn’t go last year. Sadly I did not find my tree but serendipity was the word of the evening. We did a little shopping, had dinner….and strolled.
While we were strolling I noticed the sign photographed above. I had seen it fly by on Facebook- it is the new gallery next to Gallery 222 on King Street (which was also so much fun this evening as a matter of fact!)
Painted Fine Art & Gallery Coming Soon the sign said. The gallery exterior was warm and festive. So I had to check it out, and I am so glad I did, as this is definitely Malvern’s next treasure! (you heard it here first😊)
Inside the studio greeting people was the gallery owner and artist, Sharon Henderson McHugh.
I have an affinity for artists to be sure, but Sharon is someone you would just like if you met her somewhere else. Warm and welcoming, and her art is amazing I think. She has a tremendous sense of color, texture, and light. Her subjects also come to life on the canvases – each has a vibrancy.
Her middle room were portraits and portraits of nudes. Nudes can be extraordinary if they are painted by the right artist. Sharon is in the photo above, and I photographed her next to the nude that is my favorite. I also love the garden scene which is the last photo in this post.
I am sorry I did not take more photos of her art. She also has some pencil drawings which are exquisite.
I look forward to the gallery’s opening and you will definitely want to check it out.
