let’s talk about bob…and move on, shall we?

Last week people erupted into ridiculousness because Chair of the Willistown Supervisors and lifelong Republican Bob Lange, along with his wife, appeared in a commercial saying why they had made the personal choice and decision to vote for Kamala Harris.

The horrible things people have said are astounding in their ignorance. Some of the most amazingly ignorant comments have come from Willistown which isn’t a shocker.

It’s really simple: Bob Lange (and his wife) made a choice that he felt strongly about as an American. No one coerced him. Like everyone else I didn’t know about it until somebody slipped me the ad, and then I actually thought good for him for standing up for what he believes in —- if people cannot deal with a man who is an adult standing up for the courage of his convictions then they need to sit down and shut up basically.

And in Willistown they should be more concerned about what jerks some of them seem to be to the rational world. Yes I am talking about that article in Philadelphia Magazine.

Yes it’s time for a segue. You know I live for those.

And no, I didn’t know that article was coming out either, until it did. I will admit I was delighted and found it amusing that they referenced my blog and they’re welcome. However, they did get one thing wrong. I am actually the one who figured out where that nasty postcard for Wildflower Farm came from. As in where it was printed based on the postal permit on it- not who paid for it.

I wrote about Wildflower Farm back then because I felt like someone had to and the Heenans are the loveliest family.

https://www.phillymag.com/news/2024/09/27/wildflower-farm-willistown/

I was also amused at the magazine’s choice of tour guide, but hey she needs to be big woman on campus with a rooster, right? Of course, that whole rooster issue and Willistown is just ridiculous and eventually they’re going to have to deal with it. The bottom line there is roosters don’t belong in regular old residential non farm neighborhoods. There’s not enough space. But maybe they should start with getting a better zoning officer? They always seem to pick the wrong ones.

Willistown gets messy. I used to think West Vincent was messy, but Willistown gets world champion domination messy. Which, bringing this back around again to what is happening to Bob Lange now, is not a surprise. And they do like to crucify him on occasion in Willistown, like they did over the whole sewer sale of it all. I bet some anti-sewer sale folks from back then are busy sucking up now, right?

Ok so yes, he’s going to vote for a Democrat, because the Republican Party is so polluted that even life-long actual Republicans, as in the party of Lincoln, can’t just say “We’ll just vote for Trump.”

What is at stake here is huge and Trump has not actually really done anything for anyone. The only one Trump is interested in is himself because he has a malignant narcissist and he has shown people since he emerged on the scene in the 70s that this is who and what he was. Nothing has ever changed about Donald Trump.

The Republican party is currently cochaired by his twat waffle daughter-in-law, so does that give you an idea of how far the party has fallen?

Do you think it was easy for Bob Lange or his wife to make this decision let alone make it public? But make the decision they did based on what was best for them.

Even Barry Dee who is Republican agreed with me on Friday on WCHE that no matter for whom people choose it is their right as an American and that is the beginning and end of the conversation except for one last word: Bob is from the socioeconomic playground that you would think wanted Donald Trump, but more and more of them do not. What goes on in Willistown of course is a completely different story because nobody knows how to behave most of the time anymore anyway.

If Bob Lange is not voting for Trump, maybe people around here might want to think about that. I was a lifelong Republican myself until 2016 when Trump became the nominee. And when he became the nominee, I realized as a woman with a brain, I could no longer be a Republican.

Actually, when I was on WCHE with Barry Dee on Friday and I ended my segment with a simple thought: I believe it is incumbent upon the leaders of the Democrats in Chester County and the Republicans to step forward and tell people to put an end to this nonsense of harassing and bullying people over who they are choosing to vote for. We all know they won’t have the balls to do that though.

People have a right to vote for whomever they are comfortable with. It’s personal choice, not lock step like a dictator told you to.

I will also note that Barry Dee on Friday told the story of a Republican business owner in West Vincent who put a Trump sign up at his business, and he started getting harassed and threatened by Democrats. So freaks exist on both sides and everyone needs to STOP letting the freaks speak for ANY of us.

Also for the record, I’m not and never will be in Bob Lange’s inner circle. But I have a brain, so this isn’t so hard to figure out. Move on, people.

Part of our inalienable rights is not only the first amendment right to our opinion like this blog post. For example, we are also entitled to vote for whom we feel most comfortable voting for.

If we are currently living in a world, where people can’t safely express for whom they choose to cast their vote for, then how can we say this is the United States of America in the first place? Chew on that for a while.

Just vote like Ruth sent you and it will be good. Kidding, but it is the truth.

chester county farmer being targeted on social media by political extremists

So the other day, Bob Lange, a Republican supervisor in Willistown Township and farmer in Chester County, PA decided to speak his peace on the upcoming election. That is his right as an American. It created a stir locally, because he is voting for Kamala Harris. I wrote about it.

Bob is a Republican like we used to know, from when it still was the party of Lincoln, not the party of Twatwaffles for Trump or Trumpublicans (take your pick).

So why then is some rando who seems to be from Michigan along with other randos targeting one of our farmers? For what? Exercising his First Amendment rights? Standing up as a taxpaying American farmer and saying why he’s voting for Kamala Harris? Whether you like him or not, it is his right, just like everyone else, to say who he is voting for whether or not you agree with him or not.

This is appalling behavior, and this is part and parcel what Facebook/Meta allows every day. Regular people are hounded by the creepy algorithms, and regular people are also harassed every day by completely crazy comments like this. This guy actually sat on his phone or computer or whatever and just kept vomiting a seriously defaming comment over and over again. Good job, Mark Zuckerberg.

CLICK TO READ A VERY INTERESTUNG ARTICLE FROM 9/24/24 ABOUT ZUCKERBERG

So Chester County Republican Committee (Raffi Terzian) and Republican Party of Pennsylvania (Lawrence Tabas and Liz Preate Havey) do you CONDONE this behavior? Is this what you stand for? Well? Note, I am not bothering to ask the national GOP since Trump’s huge joke of a daughter in law Lara Trump is Co-Chair. But I doubt the state GOP or county GOP will open their mouths. They are after all, good little political Stepford wives.

We can stand up and choose whom we wish as a candidate. But this is yet another reason why the United States can’t have four more years of the keeper of Mar a Lago.

It’s like we aren’t safe to have our inalienable rights.

Sign me disgusted with American politics.

incredible behavior? not really. just predictable.

I try to keep my mouth shut on this topic of a certain bloviator’s latest series of smelly social media farts , but I think I am just done.

Bigly done.

Let’s get this into perspective:

Celebrities and politicians and public figures always and every election season come out on one side or the other. It’s nothing new…except to a malignant narcissist who always has to be the great bloviator in the room.

It’s literally like he can’t believe a woman said “no.”

As we all watch a candidate for President in the United States of America seeming sink further and further into this abyss of crazy, I don’t understand how anyone can think he’s the one? How is he even a choice?

A woman said no and this is what a normal 78 year old man does? And Republicans are ok with his slut shaming? That is exactly what he’s doing while attempting his own twisted harassing cancel culture, and again people are ok with this?

It’s crazy.

It’s like we’re waiting for the resurrection of Jim Jones and special Kool Aid. The Republican Party has been completely polluted. That became complete when his sounds like a goat caterwauling when singing daughter in law became co-chair. And his camp follower for this campaign so far seems to be another nutbag who likes plastic surgery too much named Laura Loomer, all while his wife is noticeably absent from everything.

The reality of this election for me is truly what it all means for me as a woman. This election is also all part of a much bigger picture. This election is also about the simple right to be ourselves at its most basic.

I’m not going to tell people how I think they should vote, but I am telling people why I am voting for Kamala Harris.

That nasty old man doesn’t care about any of us, and he never makes anything better. This is like a giant game show for him. I have never liked game shows.

If you really value our constitution and inalienable rights, I don’t see how anyone can consider him. If you are a student of US and world history, I don’t see how you can consider him.

The haters will come out of the closet now, I’m sure and it will leave me with one final point to ponder: why are so many afraid of the musings and opinions of independent minded women?

Meow.

we the sheeple: democrat attack rats

Yesterday I expressed my opinion on the whole Joe Biden stepping aside and his endorsement of Kamala Harris.

And I put it on my blog’s Facebook page. Which means I have been essentially subjected to the verbal diarrhea attacks and random streams of consciousness of I don’t know how many people.

I do not mind the people that can have an actual conversation about this, but I do mind the preachy, self righteous people who have to beat you into the ground verbally in lieu of a conversation.

It’s pretty simple: I don’t think she can win. She really didn’t do well when she was seeking the nomination last time so I don’t even know if she will get to the nomination.

Saying that doesn’t mean I think she’s a bad person or she’s not qualified. She is. But can she actually win?

I am allowed to have my opinion.

Of course, if she becomes the nominee, I hope I’m wrong. Why? Because the alternative is terrifying to democracy.

But all the ridiculous comments I’ve received? I’m so negative. I’m so bad, and I’m so everything horrible by members of my own political persuasion? Not acceptable. STFU.

And this is some thing that Democrats always do. I’ve been watching it since the days I was handing out eminent domain flyers in front of a polling place in Ardmore years ago, where local Democrats were walking older people into the polls and saying “vote like we told you to.”

I don’t think that tactic works. And it shouldn’t work. We are a democracy, which means we are entitled to our opinions on these things.

So Chester County and other area Democrats? Get off the attack rat train.

Instead of attacking me, why don’t you calmly have a conversation and tell me why I’m not right?

And what none of you get is I would vote for a thumbtack over Donald Trump.

If Kamala Harris proves me wrong, that’s a positive for preserving democracy. But if you honestly want to know what I fear, it is when she ran last time for this nomination, she was a little too extreme and that turned people off.

And then people had to give me an education on Michelle Obama, like she was their close personal bestie. I know she has never expressed interest in political office, but the reason I mentioned her is that she is a Democrat who is a woman that I think could win. And again, that’s also my opinion. But then just be completely rude and patronizing to me and say to me that I need to be realistic not have fantasy choices it’s like so many of you completely lack basic reading comprehension?

Hi, I’m not playing fantasy football here, I’m discussing politics. And I’m discussing my opinion on politics. I’m not always going to agree with you and that doesn’t make me a bad person or necessarily wrong. It’s just a different opinion.

I’m not a sheeple.

For the record, I didn’t think Hillary Clinton could win, either and I was right.

So we shall see what happens.

Prior post:

it’s a political full moon, y’all.

I will preface this post with it’s a full moon, so howl at IT, not me.

So today is literally stormy political Sunday. Joe Biden has dropped out of the Presidential race. Before I get to the meat of this post, thank you sir for your decades of public service.

So Joe is out, and he’s endorsing Kamala Harris? Okay but I don’t think he can avoid that. And it certainly doesn’t mean she is the right person for the nomination.

She isn’t. She can’t win the Oval. She doesn’t have it to beat Trump and it’s just kind of that basic. She has been more hidden from view than Dan Quayle. Or Walter Mondale. Notice I don’t say Cheney since he is just Dr. Evil. She has been so hidden from view since elected VP, I feel that is telling. I also have never felt she had it it make it to president. She does not have broad enough or uniform appeal.

I do respect her ambition and accomplishments, and it would be nice to have a female president in the United States but she’s not Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama could actually win. But the sad truth is this country is not ready for a female president yet of any race, creed, color, or political persuasion and we don’t have the time to muck around with this right now, unless people want Big Orange and his sharpies back in the Oval?

People do not want Kamala Harris shoved down Democrats’ throats because of a small group of party elites. Someone aptly said that Democrats keep shooting themselves in the feet for trying to force nominees people do not want at the plurality.

We need an OPEN NOMINATION process or something similar at the convention. Kamala Harris does not have broad enough appeal or potential to her own party to win, let alone the disgusted regular Republicans who don’t want Trump.

So of course because I said this out loud on my blog’s Facebook page you would have thought I said something really bad. What I said is she can’t win the Oval. Come on people you know she can’t. Biden had to offer her up, we don’t have to accept that, but if they don’t get that in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention, then it will be Trump again 100%.

Now I do not have a crystal ball and I could be wrong, but I don’t think so. I also said Hilary Clinton could not win the Oval, and OMG you would have thought (again) said something really, really bad instead of just expressing my opinion.

I am not a sheeple.

There is a short list forming of winnables:

1. Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania Governor. I have been following him since he was Joe Hoeffel’s Chief of Staff and if you were paying attention, this is his ultimate goal. He has experience, he is smart even when he’s being smarmy, and he does have bipartisan appeal, which is desperately needed.

2. Gavin Newsom. California Governor. He has the chops, experience, and has survived in California. Devin Nunes might not like him but that’s a good thing. Don’t hold his Trumpian Stepford first wife against him, I am sure he didn’t know Kimberly Guilfoyle was such a nutbag until after he married her.

3. Mark Kelly. Senator from Arizona. He’s the whole enchilada. Border state, former Navy officer and astronaut, and his wife is Gabby Giffords. His twin brother Scott was also an astronaut. He was an Independent which I find appealing. He is also from NJ, so he can definitely stand up to the Big Orange Bloviator. He’s a Gulf War veteran. Honestly, he’s my favorite. He checks all of the boxes. More positives than negatives.

Like I said, this isn’t my decision this is just my opinion on this topic. You need a candidate than gets you the votes from the other side of the aisle that you need to win a Presidential election. It is pretty much that simple.

I know a lot of you aren’t going to like my opinion. I’m okay with that. But I’ve actually thought about this, and I have been thinking about it, since she became the Vice Presidential nominee.

So here’s hoping that the Democratic National Convention is not going to be the shit show we all think it’s going to be.

And I think we all need to pause, and thank Joe Biden. He has done a very difficult and selfless thing, he has put what he wants to do aside for what he feels is the greater good. He has devoted his life to public service, and that’s pretty much it.

The Band-Aid has been ripped off Democrats, don’t screw it up.

And please, go howl at the full moon, not my opinions.

Pax.

west goshen gets a “charge” out of shutting down residents.

West Goshen is a curious place. Watch the recent meeting which I have embedded below from YouTube. Especially starting at the 1:24 mark. It has to do with electric vehicle charging stations.

There is a gentleman who got up to speak about this who a resident. Not rude or offensive. He was measured and thoughtful in his comments. And what he was asking was reasonable.

I also don’t know this man at all. But I wish people would be more thoughtful and plain spoken and polite and conversational like this, when discussing things at township meetings anywhere.

And at first there’s the township solicitor who seems to speak a little too often for the supervisors and so it begs the question of who actually runs the township? And I know that solicitor doesn’t like me. It all stems from a cartoon from many years ago that was well within my first amendment rights just like my comments today.

The man politely persisted in spite of many rude interruptions on the part of the township, and he never lost his cool and again polite well spoken. Then this Twinkie of a supervisor, I guess the vice chair I’m not really sure starts basically telling him that he doesn’t have First Amendment rights in West Goshen and what kind of crazy is that?

And I’m not making this up, here listen for yourself :

They are rude and argumentative with him, and it’s really out of line on their part and very unprofessional isn’t it?

However, what they are saying basically is First Amendment rights are subjective in West Goshen Township and how does that work exactly?

This whole thing with electric vehicles and charging stations is a hot topic in multiple municipalities. And if you build it into the zoning, the man who was interrupted and threatened with being removed by a police officer wasn’t wrong, saying that the language had better be tight or they will be subject to litigation. He also wasn’t wrong like some of the other residents in questioning who would be paying for the electricity at the stations if they’re at a township, for example? I know that this came up in West Vincent Township.

In West Vincent (and if I could find the meeting tape, I would post it) they put in one of these charging stations near the township, and again the question came up with who’s paying for the electricity? And one reason it came up in West Vincent is there were people that were parking their bikes at the township building, apparently and charging their car and coming back after the car was charged.

So residents in West Vincent looked into it and discovered that townships can add a mechanism in place where if you want to charge your vehicle, you basically swipe a credit card and you “fill up”, much like you do for gas at a gas station. What also came out after they added the pay as you go component is that if people had to pay for the electricity to fuel their car battery, they weren’t interested. They only want it free electricity.

And some of this language being built into township codes is also curious to me because it’s like if you do certain things to your house now, they want you to add capability for one of these charging stations, and should people be made to spend the money for that if they’re not necessarily going to use it ever? This is like a big Emperor’s New Clothes boondoggled to an extent isn’t it? For example, what if you’re putting a deck on your house and they want you to add this onto the deck and your deck is all the way around in the rear of your property where there is no driveway?

Just because there is grant money for something it doesn’t mean that everybody has to hop on it immediately before they know the ins and outs. Unless of course you work for a local municipality I guess?

This was a hot topic in Narberth as well. And at one point Narberth Borough had apparently installed charging stations on public streets in front of peoples homes where parking is a premium (little off street parking) without telling them and that was a problem. What was also a problem, was a lack of conversation with residents, who would be affected by these charging stations, who may or may not have electric vehicles, but again what they also didn’t have were driveways, and that’s the parking in front of their house or on their street.

Ironically, this nice man, who basically got threatened by the supervisor Twinkie at West Goshen last evening it looks like was on the Barry Dee show at WCHE last week. Barry show is called All Politics Are Local.

And here is the link to the complete West Goshen meeting:

So this man and other residents aren’t asking unreasonable questions. And my favorite out of all the speakers, I think was the guy with a man bun who looked like a plant who said everything was lovely in his world view and butterflies would be charging their wings, which again this is his right to public comment, but if you’re going to allow him to speak you allow the others to speak.

So once again, spotlight shines on West Goshen. And speaking of West Goshen whatever happened about that report that was supposed to be made public about the man who works for the township who committed suicide? And what’s happening with that litigation because it is in federal court still isn’t it?

Signing off with It’s always shady in West Goshen Township.

male chauvinist planning in west whiteland? or mansplaining at it’s finest… or both?

The first Planning Commission meeting for West Whiteland Township was January 9th, but I missed it. The topic was that old folks development planned for Boot Road kind of on top of the Mariner East/SuNOco/Energy Transfer. Literally. Just put the address into the county pipeline interactive map.

I was concerned about this before as were many, many people. Which is why I was glad West Whiteland Supervisors didn’t just green light the plan 100% before. Among other things, there is no safety plan in the event of a pipeline emergency. We are talking elderly people, with any range of issues and that includes memory as in Alzheimer’s. It’s bad enough the pipeline runs super close to seniors in those places in East Goshen because the places were already built before Mariner East/SuNOco/Energy Transfer came through in recent years.

Yes, we’ve all lived mostly ok with petroleum pipelines. This is different. It’s more can go boom and will do so rather quickly and has the ability to cause incredible amounts of damage to life and property. Many of us, myself included live in blast zones for one pipeline or the other, so why built for at risk humans on top of a pipeline essentially?

Anyway since I missed the meeting I asked West Whiteland if I could have the zoom link. It’s a public meeting and publicly recorded so if you cannot go in person or attend the zoom portion, you CAN request to view it. (CLICK HERE) I will note again, that I requested the meeting like anyone else can. I have to point this out since people seem to think I actually run various townships with my blogging superpowers or get extra special treatment which makes me howl with laughter at the sheer absurdity of it. The truth is regular people have rights, and you can ask questions and ask to view public meeting recordings. The other truth is I am one opinion, one woman, why so fixated?

At first the meeting seemed pleasant enough and they welcomed a new member, Ginny Kerslake. If you click on below, turn up volume or watch entire meeting.

Now I make no secret that Ginny is one of my favorite people. I am very happy to see her on the Planning Commission in West Whiteland. There used to be another lady on it, but that committee runs itself like a boys’ club and often their attitude in general leaves a lot to be desired, so I have to wonder if that is why she is no longer there? I think some of them prefer those of us in the female species to be seen and not heard. I am sure I am on that list for expressing my opinion on things before them.

This plan IMHO is still a fool’s errand. I don’t object to senior living facilities, but plans that are kind of bad….are just kind of bad. What makes THIS plan bad? Location and proximity to pipelines. That would be Item 9 being referred to a lot in the recording. I also think it’s too close to the road etc. It’s an awkward location all the way around, if most of us are honest, and no matter what happens, we can indeed think that.

That is kind of a BIG item (emergency plan) to NOT be addressed when submitting plan again or whatever, isn’t it? And Ginny Kerslake expressed the SAME concerns she expressed as an ordinary resident the LAST time this plan came up. And wow the rush of Male Chauvinist Planning in the room was something else. And mansplaining. Oy the mansplaining.

One of the chief voices on the recording I think was West Whiteland Planning Commission Vice Chair Mark Gordon. Why do I say that? The East Goshen and pipeline references. You see, Mr. Gordon was an employee of East Goshen Zoning Officer /Director of Codes until some point in in 2022. I guess he retired? Do they miss his sparkling know it all personality? He might not like that I said this, but it’s not illegal and I am just a silly woman, right?

Anywhoooo, a couple of those voices on the recording who were NOT anyone representing the applicant were horrible IMHO. So the other blue meanie I think was a guy named Jeff on the Planning Commission? Why are he and the Vice Chair so full of themselves anyway? Did I miss something? I have known quite a few men and women on planning commissions in various municipalities throughout the years and a lot of them have quite frankly amazing resumes and they didn’t behave so poorly even if they didn’t agree with the public, so what gives?

The representatives of the applicant was quite pleasant throughout, I thought….and this can’t have been fun for them since they still don’t have a safety plan, right?

Here’s the 411 mansplaining Planning Commission members: you don’t know everything, no one has to kiss your rings. Yes, I am saying once again I am not fond of West Whiteland’s Planning Commission boys’ club. I have encountered it with other meetings and their obvious disdain for residents and neighbors and non residents and neighbors kind of just goes on. And it should NOT. If they don’t want to play nicely with residents etc., why are they there? That was Ginny Kerslake’s first meeting, so what is the objective? To beat her to a pulp verbally and will this continue every meeting moving forward? And point of fact, the Planning Commission has a liaison from the Board of Supervisors and why didn’t he calm the tone? He could have, it would have been most appropriate.

It’s funny, this coming week Willistown Township deals with the decorum of residents speaking at meetings. It seems West Whiteland needs to do the same with some of the Planning Commission members towards residents and seemingly women on their own board? I think it’s pretty pathetic but who am I but a mere mortal and female?

The biggest problem with certain West Whiteland Planning Commission members after mansplaining and dismissive atty-tudes is that they seem to think that if they make a recommendation it should be Gospel. They are an advisory board only. And I am glad Ginny Kerslake is there now because she will shake things up in a POSITIVE manner. I may or may not agree with her decisions while serving, but I will rest assured as will all West Whiteland residents that she LISTENS and does her HOMEWORK.

So yeah, boys’ club, I will get out the popcorn. And while I am waiting for the next mansplain be rude to female commission members occasion, I will take a moment to upload other agendas and some related screen shots where this Columbia Cottage thing has been discussed or other pipelines + elderly dwelling areas. It goes back to 2020 and I don’t even think I found them all. But seriously boys, what are you recommending for approval when all that time there hasn’t yet been a safety plan? How will you be when the plans for Church Farm Lane which will be Hershey’s Mill- like comes up? Maybe man babies, it is time to check your egos at the door and remember WHY you are SUPPOSED to be there?

You won’t like my opinions here, but am I completely wrong? I don’t think so.

Knock it off.

william penn safe (for now) and josh shapiro says he did it?

So I wrote about this yesterday, right? I didn’t originate the news about the National Park Service and William Penn in his Philadelphia pocket park at 2nd and Walnut off of Samson Walk. It was international news after a few hours yesterday which made me notice. William Penn being discussed by British newspapers will do that.

Well about half an hour ago I noticed an update on the NBC10 app and apparently the hair brained stupid idea, plan, or proposal is now revoked and of course the I-95 Superman known as Governor Josh Shapiro is taking credit for swooping in to save the day?

Groan….politics….

IMHO the people did this with instant public outrage, not the Governor who is using this as political capital to feather his own political nest. I mean Governor you are everywhere these days so what is it you are interested in? A US Senate Seat? A Presidential bid? Sorry not sorry something has to be cooking, right? So while he’s at it, how about those pipeline issues, Governor darling?

Anyway, here’s what NBC10 is saying:

NBC10 Philadelphia: NPS withdrawals plan to remove statue of William Penn from site of his Philadelphia home

Published January 8, 2024 • Updated 12 mins ago

The National Park Service (NPS) has withdrawn the review of a renovation plan that included the removal of the statue of William Penn from the site of his former Philadelphia home.

The NPS asked for input on the future for the park, located near the intersection of 2nd and Walnut Streets off Sansom Walk in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood, and they certainly received it — at least online.

The online site where the public was supposed to provide comment on the Welcome Park proposal on Monday—the first day of a 14-day period where the NPS were going to receive public input on the plan.

By 6:30 p.m. Monday night, the NPS said the public comment period was closed.

“The preliminary draft proposal, which was released prematurely and had not been subject to a complete internal agency review, is being retracted. No changes to the William Penn statue are planned,” the NPS said in a statement.

…In a statement on the plan, the NPS said the goal of the proposed renovations were intended to create “a more welcoming, accurate, and inclusive experience for visitors.”

After the proposal was withdrawn the NPS said:

“The National Park Service (NPS) remains committed to rehabilitating Welcome Park as the nation prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Upon completion of all the necessary internal reviews, the park looks forward to engaging in a robust public process to consider options for refurbishing the park in the coming years.”

The park is located on the site of Penn’s former home, it is also named for the ship, Welcome, which transported Penn to Philadelphia.

The design and construction of Welcome Park was funded by the Independence Historical Trust and was completed in 1982, notes the NPS in the statement….The withdrawn proposal called for the William Penn statue and Slate Roof house model at the park to be removed and not reinstalled.

Yeah, Super Josh did all of this, right? Public outrage at the National Park Service’s latest bit of stupidity and political pandering and a complete disregard of the actual history of William Penn had nothing to do with it? The fact that it is a Presidential election year has nothing to do with it either ? (Somewhere Dana Carvey is reviving Church Lady and isn’t that special.)

Park withdraws review of Welcome Park rehabilitation proposal

PHILADELPHIA — Independence National Historical Park has withdrawn the review of a draft proposal to rehabilitate Welcome Park and closed the public comment period. The preliminary draft proposal, which was released prematurely and had not been subject to a complete internal agency review, is being retracted.  No changes to the William Penn statue are planned.

The National Park Service (NPS) remains committed to rehabilitating Welcome Park as the nation prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. Upon completion of all the necessary internal reviews, the park looks forward to engaging in a robust public process to consider options for refurbishing the park in the coming years.

The park is located on the site of William Penn’s home, the Slate Roof House, and is named for the ship, Welcome, which transported Penn to Philadelphia. The design and construction of Welcome Park was funded by the Independence Historical Trust and was completed in 1982.

Updates on the project may be found on the park’s website at www.nps.gov/INDE.

Now let’s do remember that this park is barely a park and more of a rather dated 1980s concrete jungle masquerading as a park and has been since it was created . So making it more of a green space and honoring nature which is so part of Native American culture and history is not a bad plan, but William Penn and his slate house replica and his legacy should remain on the site that was his home in Philadelphia.

Also and once again people are in an uproar over William Penn because he owned slaves. At Pennsbury Manor. Quaker Charles Thomson, the most famous inhabitant of historic Harriton House in Bryn Mawr , Irish-born patriot leader in Philadelphia during the American Revolution and the secretary of the Continental Congress throughout its existence owned slaves before he freed them. Thomson prepared the Journals of the Continental Congress, and his and John Hancock’s names were the only two to appear on the first printing of the United States Declaration of Independence. He designed the Great Seal of the US too. So should he be removed from history too?

My point is some Philadelphia Quakers did own slaves and some known as “fighting Quakers” also fought in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and even WWI and WWII. Those are historical facts.

Slavery is wrong in today’s world, it wasn’t wrong quite yet in that world many centuries ago. It is an inconvenient truth yet part of the history that made this country. You can’t cancel all of our founding fathers and US history, nor should you. It was a different time. People and culture was different. Society was different. I say that as someone who has the genealogy of discriminated against people in my DNA. And there are plenty of people also descended from indentured servants as well as slaves.

Again, our history is our history. Covering it up and/or removing it means we could be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. Being open to all segments of history gives us the opportunity to learn so yes that should include Native American and history of other indigenous peoples (like the Inuit tribes) and slavery and black history along with everything else. They are all pieces of the crazy quilt of American history.

We can’t pretend bad things didn’t happen and we shouldn’t. But history doesn’t exist for the convenient bits, it exists for ALL of it, including William Penn.

Face it before there was George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson, or John Adams or Paul Revere or Betsy Ross or Prince Hall or Louis Glapion or George Middleton or Absalom Jones or Richard Allen, there was William Penn.

History has a place in our lives. We live in Pennsylvania. We fight to see pieces of land that were William Penn land grants saved, we need to save him too. There would be no Pennsylvania without William Penn.

Have a good night and keep an eye on this story.

philly style politics on election day in WCASD and more election day amusements/bemusements

Democrats Did NOT do this. This is FAKE.

Just so we are clear, the Democrats did not endorse this candidate. He is a dark money, Klanned, Karenhood candidate.

If you are handed one of these palm cards at a pole that serves the West Chester Area School District please turn it in to the people who are there to watch the polls.

And if you are in the Downingtown Area School District, and you are handed a frisbee for a Klanned, Karenhood candidate named Duanne please also report it.

And to the Save Lionville Station Farm folks, I caution you were throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If you vote in the Klanned Karenhood slate of school board directors, you will regret it for decades to come. I mean you guys don’t like the solicitor for the school district right? Then why give his types a win?

I don’t forget that county commissioner candidate, who always seems to be running for something…. and he hails from West Goshen which should be reason enough NOT to vote for him…

hysterical election funnies that can’t be blamed on me

I am sure that this politician is blaming everyone but himself here. And I honestly don’t know who the creator of this is but they have kept me giggling.

Thank you fearless lampooner. These would make great signs for Election Day 🤣 but I don’t think it’s allowed? And gosh Pick-Your-Title-Bressi and you thought I was the biggest thorn in your side mocking your Goodfellas attire at casual picnics?

In the end dude, no matter what you claim your motivation was, you CHOSE to become a politician. You are reaping what you have sown. A lot of voters are sheeple, but not all. And the Philadelphia Inquirer is hardly fake news, right?
