can we talk about puppies being sold illegally on the streets of west chester borough?

These photos were like yesterday or last night in front of Jaco Taco and Juice Bar in West Chester Borough. 8 West Gay Street, right ? So does this business have a security cameras? If so, they need to turn the footage over to police.

At first given all the online chatter people were rather frustrated with West Chester Borough Police.

Whoever this person is needs to have his ass thrown in jail for putting puppies in a cage in freaking August and trying to sell them on the streets of West Chester Borough.

This is horrible, it is actually illegal, and it’s animal cruelty. I’m going show you all the screenshots I have collected and a little video. if you see this person selling dogs on the street do not approach. Just call the police and record them. Clear photos would be helpful here.

I will note, based upon what I have seen online, it seems like West Chester Borough was a little slow to act here.

Police need to catch this guy because otherwise we all know what will probably happen, right? Dead puppies somewhere right?

Whoever this is, they’re just as bad as a puppy mill, and who knows maybe they’re from a puppy mill?

And just out of curiosity when this fighting was going on in the middle of the street, where were West Chester Police?

This is ridiculous that this is even happening.

File under law and disorder and illegal puppy sales in West Chester Borough.

police back at krebs house in east whiteland this afternoon

So we still don’t know really why, but law-enforcement had a play date at the Kreb’s house in East Whiteland again today on Conestoga Road. I have been told that today’s visit were the Chester County Detectives.

We first noticed earlier this afternoon this notice on East Whiteland‘s Facebook page:

Then this showed up as an update:

6ABC was out at the scene and I caught it on the 5 PM news. I don’t know if anyone else is covering this or not so I know residents are grateful for 6 ABC being there. more importantly residents are very grateful in East Whiteland for law enforcement and their handling of this. It has been a little unsettling for residents near that house, which is understandable.

Kevin Krebs has TWO separate court dates coming up.

I still haven’t seen anything posted to state whether or not Mr. Krebs will be facing Federal charges as well since the media reports also report the involvement of Federal law-enforcement agencies.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more media on this. And when I listened to the 6ABC reporter, I was somewhat gob smacked at the number of guns that the family turned in to law-enforcement that belonged to this man.

Also a related issue is I am sure we would all like to know why West Chester Borough Councilmen Bernie Flynn and Brian McGinnis allowed the Mayor of Downingtown to speak at a June meeting, but did not allow West Goshen Sunshine to ask a couple of simple questions?

West Goshen Sunshine attended this public meeting and got up and tried to speak at public comment to inquire as to the timeline of events at the No Kings Rally. She was interested in when Mr. Krebs was detained and arrested, and where that was in the whole scheme of the event that day. She also wondered when elected officials and event organizers were told about this?

Allow me to quote her:

The irony is hard to ignore: in the same town that held a “No Kings” rally, I was silenced at the Borough of West Chester meeting last night. Councilmen Bernie Flynn and Brian McGinnis have clearly crowned themselves gatekeepers of free speech–deciding who gets to speak and who doesn’t. That’s not leadership. That’s arrogance.

Fortunately, not every official in West Chester in as bombastic as Flynn and McGinnis.

Edit Council member Nicole Scimone tried to let me speak but was drowned out by Flynn and McGinnis even though she was presiding over the meeting. Thanks for trying Nicole Scimone!

West Goshen Sunshine is well spoken and polite. I am appalled, but not necessarily surprised by the behavior of these two gentlemen in West Chester Borough.

I am not some Luddite, and I understand there are certain things the public are not going to be privy to at this stage of an investigation, and the same goes for West Goshen Sunshine. However, lots of people want to know what the timeline is for notification concerning this incident. Let’s face it if someone hadn’t blown up the original social media video so that we all saw it , how long would it have been before we knew this incident even happened?

I have felt since this happened that politics, not necessarily law enforcement tried to keep a lid on this.

Now to me, it would’ve made sense that the event organizers wanted everything to remain calm that day, because face it if lots and lots of people there on that day had known they just arrested a man with weapons it might have been chaos. And law enforcement did a tremendous job in a huge crowd.

However, I also wonder if politics kept this from getting out until that social media video from TikTok or whatever was released everywhere so we all saw it? And along those lines until people like myself and others started publicly thanking law enforcement, it seems like a lot of politicians weren’t.

Law enforcement has been amazing through this.

Anyway, if you listen to the media reports, it looks like there was at least one more weapon seized today and computers and who knows what else. People are still asking questions like was Krebs egged on by some group or something like that or did he always act alone on his own?

This has been a sad and scary situation. I hope that as Krebs has been a guest of the county that he has perhaps been getting mental health treatment? Because anyway you slice it, what almost happened that day and what they found in his house after that is not the act of a rational human being.

happy 25th anniversary to the west chester growers market!!!

IMG_6363I missed all the political fanfare early this morning, but I did make it to the 25th anniversary of the West Chester Growers Market.

State Senator Andy Dinniman and Chester County Commissioners Michele Kichline and Terrence Farrell were there at the opening of today’s market to celebrate with everyone and present citations and proclamations.

But where oh where were the officials of West Chester Borough? Borough Council? I mean it is NO SECRET they have been discussing the lot on the corner of Chestnut and Church Streets again right?  And what developer and hotel owner want in on whatever is discussed, hmmm?  Oh the irony that they just discussed this again, what? This past week?

wcb

And no one from the Borough could come to the West Chester Growers Market in an official capacity to celebrate their 25th anniversary? The County and State felt they should be there, so why not the Borough?

I think this is fabulous that they did this!!

Oh and my opinions are my own, by the way.  And sadly I think West Chester Borough needs to appreciate the organizations which bring people into the Borough weekly for 25 years, don’t you? The West Chester Growers Market brings people and farms and small food producers together. In a world filled with ugliness, this is something genuine and nice.

Today the market was bustling in spite of the crazy heat.  And the vendors were nice enough to have lots and lots of water on hand for customers. And ice cream!!  And balloons and face painting for kids!

I love the West Chester Growers Market and it is pretty much the only one I patronize at this point since East Goshen seems to have given up on their farmers market which I think is a huge mistake since they have one of the most awesome locations.

The photos I took today were my own.  I am not compensated in any way for posting about the market. I post about the West Chester Growers Market because I love it and think it’s fabulous.

And if West Chester Borough Council gets their knickers in a twist because I do not feel in my opinion that they appreciate the market in all it’s fabulousness, tough noogies and am I wrong?

HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY WEST CHESTER GROWERS MARKET!!

WE LOVE YOU IN CHESTER COUNTY!!

why does west chester borough hate the west chester growers market? why are they trying to hurt the market again?

West Chester Growers Market 2016 season- my photo.

APRIL 2 UPDATE: The Borough of West Chester has posted something I am assuming because I posted the letter people kept sending to me yesterday.

I am posting the borough response  in an effort to be fair. Which is not saying I believe them, is it?

Pursuant to that effort to be fair would it also be fair to say that the Borough of West Chester is casting aspersions upon my character because I dared state the opinion that every year it seems to be something else that is an impediment to one of the most popular and beloved  markets? Why is it West Chester Borough can never seem to just renew the lease prior to opening day of the market? Is that small business friendly? Is that farmer friendly? Family friendly?

Also the Borough of West Chester letter was sent to me by PATRONS of the market some of whom are RESIDENTS of the Borough of West Chester. And last time I checked I can connect the dots and express my opinion unless we are all Pravda on this bus?? Do we still not have a First Amendment or is that also subjective to the capricious whims of small-town politics?

Here is their say and to them I say, if nothing nefarious is afoot the lease should have just been renewed without incident and the market should have merely been treated as the valuable community asset it is , correct?

But hey it’s ok if I think the Borough doth protesteth too much right? Keep those calls and emails up people, apparently they are feeling the heat? And pack that meeting because at the end of the day those borough council folks work for YOU right?  Maybe next election cycle instead of recycling the political status quo residents should consider other options?

FROM YESTERDAY
Can someone kindly explain to me WHY West Chester Borough seems hell bent on destroying the West Chester Growers’ Market? They seem enamored of the politically connected yet essentially not really anything other than an occasional pop-up food “co-op” (I touched on that in this post months ago) and why is the “co-op” the favored child?

Today is opening day of the market, and it is supposed to be a happy day. But once again something happy and festive feeling is once again marred, yes marred by the shenanigans of West Chester Borough. See this:

I was sent the above by a friend shopping at the market today. And others texted me. This is spreading like wildfire.

Once again, West Chester Borough is trying to rid West Chester of one of the area’s longest standing markets, doesn’t it?

Every year there is some sort of B.S. about the parking lot lease, isn’t there?

Every year this market is punished for being a successful market run by nice people, isn’t it?

Please turn out your support from far and wide for this market.   Contact every member of West Chester Borough Council. Contact the media.  Please help the market!

This is the meeting that the above letter says will discuss the fate of our favorite market:

It’s too bad West Chester Borough can’t hold a meeting to discuss the real reasons why they are such jerks to the market, right?

Sign me disgusted.

exploring west chester

Last week my friend Teri and I played touristas.  We took a staycation day to West Chester.  Wel walked the streets in town, and had lunch (al fresco!) at Limoncello.

Limoncello is a wonderful restaurant, and lunch was delicious (if you are a homemade bread junkie, do not under any circumstances try the bread they bring to the table in a basket. It is the best bread ever tasted.)

For Limoncello, not that they will listen to me a blogger, I have two suggestions: (1)The tables inside are definitely TOO CLOSE TOGETHER, and outside they are bordering on the same issue.

and

(2) They offer unsweetened iced tea and sweet tea.  The sweet tea is a mix.  The five minutes you take to brew real iced tea might add less than another 30 seconds for the time it takes to brew real iced tea with sugar and/or sugar and mint. That is all you need for sweet tea.

We then took in the streets and their merchants are town proud.  Flowers in planters everywhere, and what is really neat, is there is almost a uniformity to the outside dining options as far as plants, flowers, and ambiance.

We also discovered a couple of the little boutiques and antiques places.  West Chester has a walkability that a lot of other Main Street-oriented towns do not.  And that includes traffic calming done creatively.  My only reservation is what will happen to this when Eli Kahn does his supersizing and developing right around the center of town in I guess old county buildings.  (Don’t forget that height discussion thing.)

Eli Kahn and Jack Loew bear watching.  As in closely.  I can’t see what they will do from my windows, but I would hate to see West Chester’s charm obliterated by ill-fitting downtown development. I already think their plans for Malvern are ghastly.

West Chester, the borough, should pay more attention to this in my humble opinion than constantly fighting the sex shop lady….even if her proposed new sign shown in The Daily Local is a bit of a nose wrinkle/bad taste in my opinion.  But then again, I think the X marks the spot of the heart in the women’s figure line drawing’s crotch area is just too obvious.    (I do not care if the store is there, however, I just think she could do a more tasteful sign.  But she gets such a hard time all the time for every little thing, can’t say I blame her.)
