oh grandpa please and in case you were wondering WHY people think west goshen is like a toxic waste dump.

So let’s review: a man who worked for West Goshen killed himself recently. First we find out that the widow is suing the township and then there were political signs defaced – only Democrat candidates with the word “Murderer.” And the West Goshen Republican Committee then issued an edict from on high (or down low?) and if you recall I wondered about how coincidental it all was?

Then the police nabbed the sign defacer:

Then people learn the offender is a member of the highly dysfunctional West Goshen Republican Committee:

Then guy resigns as committeeman and I remark I was surprised the guy had time due to his busy TikTok account and You Tube with his wifey – and PS they say she was mail order/correspondence bride NOT ME.

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8Sbd2D4/

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8SqpMUf/

https://www.youtube.com/@happycouple4u94

So yeah all sorts of people have been talking about this TikTok phenomenon etc right? But oh no, knee jerk guy sends me a love note this morning like my name is really Al Gore and I created the Internet and all it’s problems:

So I am a disgusting, bigoted pig? You have a low opinion of women who are not subservient to you I suppose? Biggest problem with your assertion as to my character is I never said one thing about your wife’s nationality or referenced it in a derogatory manner. Nor would I. I actually don’t think that. I just hope she’s always treated well.

But since you opened the door to this conversation, YOU and SHE have created a public figure status vis-à-vis the two TikTok accounts and the You Tube account and whatever other platforms she is using. What blows my mind other than that video where you/she discuss how you met…is the 40 + year age gap. All I kept thinking of was that Sex & The City episode where Samantha dates an old man…

But YOU put it out there and there are SO many videos and apparently there are plenty of TikTok users who have said quite a lot aboot your 40+ year age difference. Allow me to summarize: it’s not just May/December it’s May/December in different centuries , isn’t it? And since you made it public, it’s creepy A.F.

So that is not just my opinion and others all over social media like Just the Facts Please on Facebook have commented on your umm life you’ve made public on social media platforms, but he’s a man so you don’t call him a disgusting, bigoted pig, etc do you? Mysoginidc much, grandpa?

One of my male friends describes you as derf.

In case you are suffering a memory lapse, y’all said right on TikTok how you met ⬇️

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8SpGDfK/

So let’s also go to the West Goshen portion of your comments. Because you actually disclosed something that West Goshen had not disclosed and you claim in your comments that they made the gentleman that killed himself pay back his overtime?

So EXACTLY HOW DO YOU KNOW ?

And if you know where this squirrel time comp time overtime “rule” whatever is codified as in written down please do share because West Goshen taxpayers have been paying for this right? So your comment/rant on this blog indicates you have inside information? How do you have inside knowledge?

And also important is if you knew this man was mentally fragile and that he had been bullied etc. on the job in this municipality why are you only saying something now? If you really cared about the man, why didn’t you do something about it at the time?

Once again, so we’re all clear here, I never knew this guy who sent me the vile love note existed on this planet until he started scribbling on campaign signs the word “murderer.” And even then I didn’t know who he actually was until the police announced who he was and then I was inundated with messages from people in West Goshen.

And ALL of this crazy social media stuff is PUBLIC, so why isn’t he getting nasty with all of TikTok etc? I sure as shit didn’t discover any of this information, people his own community and the Internet have been talking about it for quite a while, apparently. Anyone who knows me knows that TikTok’s not really my jam, so I pay very little attention to it normally.

I am still wondering why exactly is any of this my fault? The answer of course is it is not, but I am a woman still younger than he is, but closer to his age range that thinks this is all a little odd.

And me, expressing that opinion with all this public stuff on the Internet they put there is not illegal. And I have not said one word about his wife’s nationality. So her nationality is perhaps his hang up? She’s a beautiful girl, but she should be out clubbing, going to college, shopping with her girlfriends, having age appropriate fun, not catering to a senior citizen in training.

Good Lord, West Goshen. What do you people put in the water over? Did something escape from the sewage treatment plant and infect the residents or what?

Just another day in the unending soap opera mostly political called As The Chester County turns.

Maybe good old West Goshen Paul, who sends me love notes should also watch Hallmark movies. It might improve his disposition. If not, he can continue to dance on TikTok.

hysterical election funnies that can’t be blamed on me

I am sure that this politician is blaming everyone but himself here. And I honestly don’t know who the creator of this is but they have kept me giggling.

In the end dude, no matter what you claim your motivation was, you CHOSE to become a politician. You are reaping what you have sown. A lot of voters are sheeple, but not all. And the Philadelphia Inquirer is hardly fake news, right?

in east goshen, #VOTEPETE

I have something that came to me through the Hands off the Hicks Farm page on Facebook.

East Goshen residents are lucky. Pete Hicks whom East Goshen tried to steal farmland from via eminent domain for the trail to nowhere is running for Supervisor.

He’s a good guy and an old school decent Republican. But apparently that’s not good enough for people in East Goshen, who are completely ignorant as to the reality of local politics, and what the different elected positions entail, and dragging in national politics that have nothing to do with a local municipality.

I really can’t believe people are so limited and lacking in reality. But alas they are.

But back to this message. It is so astoundingly stupid and ignorant, and limited that it is something that just took my breath away.

I cannot abide stupidity. NOWHERE does this page Hands Off The Hicks Farm say it is run by the Hicks family! It never has. All that page has ever said is this was up in support of the Hicks family and stopping the use of eminent domain in East Goshen was the way to go.

So now nice Pete is running for Supervisor in East Goshen and public service is a familial legacy. East Goshen residents would be LUCKY a to have him, but oh no the political idiots remain as erstwhile as ever tiptoeing through unicorns farting rainbows.

I am publishing a message that came in to this page which is a public page. This is what I told this person:

Maybe before you ask a candidate questions, you study reading comprehension for yourself personally.

This page is not run by the Hicks family, but it ironically is run by a registered Democrat. And if you can’t vote for someone because he’s the right person for the job and you have to add all sorts of extraneous BS into making a decision for supervisor not school board or national office, good luck to you.

A supervisor is a local position. Similar positions in New England are called Selectmen. They don’t run with any political party because they are your neighbors and friends running for the betterment of your community.

Again, you all would be LUCKY to have Pete Hicks as a supervisor! I am tired of the knee-jerk reaction everywhere that every Republican is a bad Republican and voted for Trump and every Democrat is a bad Democrat and is a pervert in a drag show. That’s #stupid.

Pete Hicks has nothing to do with the Donald Trump situation. He’s a generational landholder in East Goshen Township, who has spent his life here and among other things, farming. He almost lost his property to eminent domain. Thanks to East Goshen supervisors specifically and pathetically, Democrats. And there’s some Republican blame to go around as well since they took forever to “Unwind“ eminent domain, which my personal opinion means there’s still something hidden that has not been found.

This is a good guy running for the RIGHT reasons. Don’t conflate things WAY OUTSIDE his office description with the job he is running for. Don’t be a dumb bunny like Lynn. It’s embarrassing.

The politics of stupidity does not recognize a particular political party. But this is what is wrong with politics, that people no longer have the basic intelligence to evaluate a candidate for the office they are actually running for without dragging everything in, including the kitchen sink.

Sign me sick of stupidity.

And PS #VOTEPETE – if I was in East Goshen resident still and I once was when I first came to Chester County, I would vote for Pete Hicks in a heartbeat.

it’s time for willistown supervisor candidates to comment publicly on the issue of ruffled rooster feathers don’t you think?

Roostergate II is very active and one of the many issues plaguing Willistown Township. There are two women vying for supervisor, Molly Perrin and Cindi Myers. Where are they on the CURRENT issues in Willistown? I am not including the sewer sale in this, because Willistown broke up with AQUA already and a couple of the original sewer rats are creating ridiculous issues over not quite sure what so they don’t count…although it was amusing to see them taken to task for essentially “fake news” at this evening’s meeting…but I digress…sorry not sorry.

Anyway, one of the BIG BIG issues again are roosters. And not just on one street although the Martyrrific Rooster Mommy of Laurel Circle does seem to draw attention to herself, doesn’t she?

So in the spirit of KYC or KNOW YOUR CANDIDATE, where are Molly Perrin and Cindi Myers on Roosters and potential abuse of ASA (Agricultural Security Areas)? This rooster issue has been going on since 2019 the first time, right?

Therefore ladies vying for votes, let’s have it. You have Facebook pages as candidates, so let’s git r’ done. This is a local issue, ergo a should be discussed election issue.

AS SUPERVISOR, HOW EXACTLY TO YOU PLAN TO DEAL WITH THE ROOSTER ISSUE? ARE ROOSTERS IN CHARGE OR WILLISTOWN OFFICIALS?

DO NOT MESSAGE ME. POST YOUR POSITION ON YOUR LOVELY CAMPAIGN PAGES. AND IF YOU DON’T DECLARE WHERE YOU ARE ON THIS ISSUE, THAT WILL SADLY ANSWER QUESTIONS VOTERS HAVE. LADIES, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE AN OMLETTE, YOU HAVE TO BREAK SOME EGGS.

Cock a doodle do ladies, cock a doodle do. I don’t have a proverbial horse (or rooster) in this race, but your fellow residents want to know what you are planning on doing. One of you will be elected in November and there is no hiding behind the other supervisors on this and other issues, there can’t be and shouldn’t be ….. Your constituency wants to hear the sound of your voices. Right now you aren’t saying much of anything about anything and well, speak up, find your voices…or why are you even running?

Not trying to be mean because I like you both, but neither of you say much of anything publicly about issues and it’s quite frankly perplexing.

banner day for women in law enforcement in chester county!

Today was the promotion ceremony for officers in the East Whiteland Police Department.

Four amazing men were promoted to Sergeant/Detective Sergeant and one woman became the first female lieutenant in East Whiteland Township Police Department history.

I am not diminishing the men in any way, they have done so much and are so incredibly accomplished, but now Lieutenant Patricia Doyle has accomplished something that is also well deserved, but history making because she is the first woman in the East Whiteland Police Department to achieve this rank. She also comes from a remarkable law enforcement family. Sorry not sorry I think it’s kind of cool.

Little girls don’t all want to be doctors and lawyers and ranking politicians or whatever overly ambitious parents choose as a path, they also want to be in law enforcement or first responders as well.

Here is the list of promotions in case ummm well local media would like to cover some incredibly accomplished people.

yes, danelo cavalcante is still at large…and other thoughts

The literal world has been focused on this Chester County manhunt. Everyone has been watching the attempts to apprehend convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante since his escape from Chester County Prison LAST Thursday.

So now they think he’s near Longwood Gardens? Kennett? Chadds Ford?

This morning

I made a comment about people being really sick of this and somebody came back to me with a knee-jerk reaction that I need to cut lawn enforcement a break, that it’s tough terrain out there where they’re searching.

Ummm I’m not being mean or disrespectful or anything to law enforcement. I am merely showing people what I’m seeing. This has been a slog for everyone and particularly scary for residents around the prison and now Longwood Gardens, Kennett, etc. That’s not taking a dig at law enforcement. But hey at least we know the regular old knee-jerk reactions are still mingled in with everything that people in Chester County are feeling right now because a convicted murderer essentially walked away from Chester County Prison.

Then, early this morning if you check the police calls, there were sightings near some lot on Longwood Gardens property. The calls are below from Open MHZ.

Also, in this post are two excerpts from the presser did yesterday by the DA and law enforcement. Deb Ryan sounds angry, tired, and defensive. I guess on one hand I can’t blame her at all because of the questions getting lobbed at her, but on the other hand people are upset that this guy got out of the prison. Deb Ryan didn’t cause him to get out of the prison, and I know they can’t say anything while they’re investigating how these people have been escaping and who’s fault it is, but don’t chide the public.

The other reality I feel sadly is this whole scene is going to play out in the elections this fall as well. How can it not? And it could have a direct impact on those County row people either seeking higher office or maintaining their current office. Now, of course, that has been a very unpopular thing for me to verbalize but it’s kind of just there and I put words to it.

And then there are the people who have to criticize me for sharing live feed I found on Twitter last night from some guy who, yeah, has a past, but last night all he was doing was relaying information, and I found it interesting. I also found it interesting that he had some source inside one of those neighborhoods that the police were doing like the big searches on and it was this kid who was Facebook-living with him I think until other neighbors got upset.

Whatever this guy did in his past, he’s been playing it pretty straight with this and if he’s got cops that are willing to talk to him? He’s not the oracle, no, but listening to it was interesting and even more importantly, he gave the very accurate feel of what it was like being on scene.

A friend of mine said on social media, and I don’t necessarily disagree:

So apparently the escaped murderer is not within the 2 mile radius they had him trapped in. He’s now, or as of last night at 10:30, sight seeing at Longwood Gardens. Um, folks, what are we doing? Dude got himself a backpack and a change of clothes. How exactly does that happen? What are the chances of robbing a man who is also 5’2” and weighs 120 pounds? Seems like someone is helping him. Wonder what is next on his sight seeing tour through Chester County?

I still don’t understand how prison didn’t have a convicted murderer, waiting to go to a state prison, better secured. And I do think the public deserves answers to those questions sooner rather than later.

And then they’re all the other rumors that have been floating around about that prison often on for a couple of years. I am guessing like many other institutions like that, they have problems, but now they have to pay the piper and answer questions. And I would start with the warden who magically got placed on administrative leave two days before this happened and then after this happened resigned so is he falling on his sword? Is he covering for other people? I think the people of Chester County have a right to know.

I think there is a lot of shady crap going on in this county, and I don’t know that it’s necessarily a good thing or just a portent of things to come. And I think both political parties are to blame here. And given the fact that the Democrats are in charge, this would make me question any law-enforcement related elections this fall. Essentially any law enforcement related candidate backed by the current head of the Democratic Party of Chester County would be suspect to me right now.

We are a country that was historically designed on a two-party system. We need balance, and we don’t have balance. All we have are extremes in politics, and it’s not working.

These are just things I’m thinking about. No one has to act or vote or any other goddamn thing because I said so. But I think it would behoove people to become more educated about all political candidates on any level of government.

Now, if this Danelo Cavalcante makes it to Delaware, northern Delaware has a lot of marshes. Southern Delaware has a lot of open land. I honestly go back-and-forth on whether he has had assistance or not, but I can’t help but wonder. Except he is desperate enough that he could be doing all of this on his own. I don’t think he knows the terrain, so I hope eventually this will catch up with him.

I will also say this escaped prisoner has provided interesting Internet sociological studies. These are the situations that show the best and worst of human nature. I will keep sharing things as the spirit moves me because that’s the way I roll. If you don’t like what I’m writing about move on. But some of you need to learn how to be grown-ups.

If you see this guy call. There is a hotline set up that number is: 717-562-2987

Carry on with your lives. Be smart, be safe.

That’s all.

politics in radnor township: the more things change, the more things stay the same….

……Radnor politicians, former and current, always amusing.

Yesterday I wrote a post about Radnor Township. Yes, I know there are some in Radnor Township, especially politicians present and former who still hate (yes, hate) when I write about Radnor, or speak about Radnor. (Actually, over the years a lot of Radnor government and a fair amount of the politicians have always hated when anyone dares talk about Radnor.)

I have been getting the special treatment for years. It actually amuses me, because I have done some good for Radnor over the years.

After I wrote the post, it was shared. Hey well, blogging happens, right? Well, not in Radnor. Shock and horrors. Officials perceive themselves as running the Shangrila of Delaware County, and a lot of Delaware County just shakes their heads. (Well I say shakes their heads, it’s more polite that repeating the choice words I have head over the years, but I digress.)

Do not misunderstand me, I love Radnor Township. It is a beautiful place with amazing history but if they don’t start looking for reasons to reduce the footprints of development plans (for example), it is going to look not so fabulous and will lose it’s character. (Which of course is why they should not mess with Fenimore Woods.)

North Wayne in particular is a favorite of mine. I first became a fan of North Wayne when I was a kid. The fanciful Victorian architecture in particular had me at hello, just like Cape May, NJ.

North Wayne has grand Victorian homes with sweeping porches, tree lined streets, and smaller homes of a more fanciful bungalow style. Many of these homes have been lovingly restored. You see Queen Anne, Second Empire, Tudor, shingle style, stick style, craftsman, and colonial revival homes dotting the streets neatly laid out on a grid pattern. I actually wrote an op-ed in 2011 about this when the Wayne Bed & Breakfast Inn was being discussed. A beautiful old house at 211 Strafford Avenue. Of course the sin of that location now is the proposed development with the preposterous name, correct? Old growth trees and gardens will also disappear, won’t they?

Anyway, so my writing about something Radnoriffic is not so unusual, but because I don’t live there, according to some dinosaur aged local politicians desperately seeking new relevance I am a bad, bad girl:

The Chester County Ramblings is mean-spirited and reflects on a larger problem in the country: divisiveness bolstered by personal attacks. Tammy Cohen and Bill White are decent people and don’t deserve this treatment.

~ old politician who doesn’t like bloggers

And old politicians generally speaking, often have equally old and odd cheerleaders, so here comes a 70-ish babe with her comment about me:

Dreadful! Mind your own business CHester Co whiner!

~another wayne fan, cheerleader to old politician (lovely message copied exactly, warts and all.)

Oh my goodness! I might never recover! The nerve!

Now I am no stranger to blog critics in Radnor. This sad old politician (who has been a commissioner more than once in Radnor’s first ward starting in like the 1980s, right?) wanted to muzzle the blogs in 2009, right? He doesn’t like bloggers, right? He heads up this group called (I think) “Friends of Fenimore Woods Coalition.” They have no website or Facebook page or any kind of presence online, which is their choice, but he can’t say that others, even outside of Radnor Township, can’t comment on this issue. Even me. It makes people feel they are like a secret society, the Shakers of North Wayne or something.

Opinion and First Amendment rights. To take pot shots at me essentially because you are outraged that I am not following the prescribed method of dealing with a local issue? It’s a bit ridic. It’s your local issue, I am just talking about it because I stumbled upon a PUBLIC meeting on cable. It was just fate that brought us back together so you could say I was terrible, etc, etc.

They don’t like it that I have expressed my opinions on this topic in Radnor and others. Ok so that hasn’t changed with any of you over the years. You’re still there, I am still here, why do I need your approval? Do I actually need you to stamp a passport of sorts when entering Radnor Township?

I am going to remind my “fans” of things I did for North Wayne, ironically.

Example 1, an editorial written in February , 2009 by me for then Main Line Suburban Life. The end result of this was North Wayne got a little stormwater management under the Wayne, PA train station parking lot adjacent to the train station. How do I know this? Because the lead engineer who then became Septa’s general manager, contacted me after I wrote the editorial and said “Hey we have room in the budget for a little stormwater remediation.” And Septa back then, did that and also a couple of other things right there.

Example 2, the Wayne Natatorium Historical marker. Here is the video from Radnor Historical Society:

Now I am sure my Radnor critics don’t like it when I write about ANYTHING Radnoriffic, yes? Like when I reminded them about the history and back story in Garrett Hill in August, 2022?

Radnor Township has a lot of overly entitled people. Always has. And they have always had a lot of ideas about who can say what, when, and how. But damn Radnor, you sure have had lots of politicians with issues in general, haven’t you? 2017 was a particularly bad year for Radnor Democrats in particular, correct? (Hey just READ HERE. and HERE) And 2016? Also bring the popcorn (READ THIS. ALSO THIS. ) I could further back, I could more a little forward. You breed interesting politicians with interesting ideas of how to treat the public, don’t you? (Don’t answer, you know I am not making it up.)

Now here are two old articles on Fenimore Woods:

So yes, now I have acknowledged once again that the gloriously self righteous of Radnor Township still don’t like my blogging. And as I said in 2009, the thing about blogs and bloggers is they are a catalyst for community conversation. But open community conversation and engagement has always been hard for Radnor, hasn’t it?

Again, going back to 2009 when this came up with this politician the last time I said that in Radnor, those who advocate for real change need to realize one thing: none of you will ever move forward until you learn to let go of the past, learn from the past, and try new things. For some of you it means trying to learn to understand how social media works. (Still does.) Back then a lot of this tempest in a teapot started because of a blogger who went by the handle “Chicken Sandwich.” I didn’t know who they were for real then, still don’t today. But they upset the status quo in Radnor. Like Radnor Coyote on Twitter a few years ago. Never knew who that was either, but they were also pretty darn funny.

I am out there in multiple communities. Always have been as a blogger and people do talk to me. There are also just things I am interested in.

And why do people talk to me? Because when I have time, I take that minute to listen, and try to see the good in people. Sometimes I don’t see that good. That’s life.

At present, I don’t see the good in old political war horses who wish to steer something the way they want it to be steered, period end of story. Why steer me? Why not simply say thank you for talking about the importance of Fenimore Woods and helping raise awareness? But instead y’all have to ramble on about how I don’t help your cause and I have an inflated sense of self importance.

Inflated sense of self importance? Moi? If that’s what these people think, I can’t dissuade them of their foolishness, anymore than I can not feel that out to pasture politicians seeking new political relevance are sad creatures, right?

It’s a big world out there. These people don’t have to like me, and in some cases I have never liked them. That’s fine. But when you have a community issue that every time someone thinks it is settled, it ends up it is not and someone raises awareness to this plight just because it is not phrased or said exactly the way you would say it, it doesn’t mean it’s wrong or the person is bad.

That phrase God don’t like ugly and you aren’t all that and a bag of chips comes to mind.

Allow me to bottom line it for you: I am not going to pitch a tent in Fenimore Woods or move to Radnor. I would not wish to live in Radnor or Lower Merion today. It’s far too crowded for me for one thing. And the issues are too plentiful to ignore. But for God’s sake, as a community at large, Radnor Township residents need to wake up and participate where they live.

And that includes Fenimore Woods.

Cheers, Radnor. Cheers, Radnor Politicians.

as the willistown turns and a big scoop by philadelphia inquirer.

Well dayyyyyuummm people, now there’s a headline. Kirkwood Farm AKA the Jackson/Rockefeller farm in Willistown appears to have been sold to M. Knight Shyamalan? So this means Shyamalan accomplished what preservationists in Willistown failed to do? Because as you know this is yet another large land parcel with no conservation easements pre-existing, right? I think people would be surprised by the list of whose big properties do not have conservation easements other than Rock Hill Farm. But hey that is a story for another day.

Philadelphia Inquirer: M. Night Shyamalan bought a Chester County farm owned by the Rockefeller family for $24M

Conservationists in Willistown Township, Chester County were alarmed when the 200-acre Kirkwood Farm went on the market last January. But they see the new owner as a steward, not a developer.

by Kevin Riordan and Frank Kummer
Published Mar 24, 2023

Goodness the Inquirer sure scooped the rest of the media, didn’t they? And two of my favorite writers. Riordan and Kummer seem to be writing the stories that matter, the ones that people want to read. With the oddness that is print and television journalism these days, Chester County doesn’t get the same coverage it used to. Of course I remember when The Philadelphia Inquirer had a Chester County Bureau in West Chester, and The Daily Local News had a whole fleet of reporters covering Chester County from all angles. But the state of print journalism is an entirely separate conversation as well. But the only other people to cover it was Philadelphia Business Journal. Of course when they shared it on their Facebook page lots of comments ensued:

Heavy sigh. I am always amazed at what people don’t know about how government works either on a local level or state level. Yes I agree wholeheartedly that we need to have less development but people have no idea what has to happen to make that happen.

Local development is ruled by The Municipalities Planning Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania AKA the “MPC.” The MPC requires an act of the State Constitution to comprehensively change and update it. It has not been comprehensively updated since I think either 1968 or 1969. Interesting to note for Chester County residents the gargantuan development known as Chesterbrook was allowed to be built because of this code, correct public officials? For a little background on Chesterbrook read THIS.)

When the MPC was created, suburbs and exurbs looked different and were defined differently. But because this is the Bible that guides all the local zoning in the state, when elected officials literally tell you they can’t do things a lot of the time it’s because they can’t do things a lot of the time. But your state elected officials can indeed do things like enact an act of the state constitution and update the MPC. If they actually did that then we could have better and more meaningful historic preservation, land preservation, land conservation and possibly even some restrictions on development and as far as how much we have to have and what communities can say no to.

As it stands, property owners don’t (IMHO) have that much that makes historic preservation and land conservation appealing. If it was more appealing and if there were more tax breaks then maybe more would conserve and preserve. No maybe these are just my opinions but I don’t think so. All you have to do is literally look at the parcels of land in Willistown (and elwhich are not under conservation easements. One of the comments mentioned a place called Sweetwater farm. I didn’t even know that was for sale I thought that had sold a while back. (According to RedFin in 2021.)

So back to 944 Providence Rd in Willistown. So if M. Night Shyamalan has bought it, he achieved what no one else could and beat out developers. I remember when this place got listed it went under agreement I thought fairly quickly and then I never heard anything else about it. So I had forgotten about this, truthfully. Wonder what the fence protesters of Willistown think of him now?

M. Night Victorious in Fence Nightmare

TMZ 11/6/2007 3:40 PM PT

It isn’t a pretty fence, but M. Night Shyamalan gets to keep it!

A judge in Chester County, Penn. has ruled that the “Sixth Sense” director can keep his 123-acre property wrapped in this yucky 8-foot high green mesh — much to the horror of his neighbors. I see pissed-off people!

Residents of Willistown Township complained that the plastic netting was an eyesore, but local officials ultimately sided with the filmmaker, who argued it was the only way to keep deer from decimating a network of floral gardens on the property he purchased in September 2006.

Hopefully they just thank M. Night Shyamalan and leave him alone this time, but pro-tip to him: it’s Willistown so don’t try to have a flower farm and avoid conversations about sewer sales and miles of concrete sidewalks…..

Willistown, Willistown, Willistown it’s always entertaining to learn your news.

lower merion township is kind of like an ongoing dumpster fire isn’t it?

See 1:09:27 time mark in meeting for when the discussion of the police disciplinary action starts.

Back in January I wrote about a disturbing incident involving the treatment of a black woman which occurred in Bala Cynwyd in the WaWa parking lot which was videoed and witnessed with horror by onlookers.

This was widely covered in the media, as well it should have been. So here we are in March. Now they are talking punishment for the police officer. Lower Merion’s website allows you to download their meetings. So I downloaded March 8th, 2023 Lower Merion Meeting and watched it. At the 1:09:27 mark starts the police discussion. That is at the top of this post for all of you. I am going to jump into some of the commentary.

Lower Merion Police Superintendent Mike McGrath who has been under fire with his own force (vote of no confidence in 2022) , suggested an EIGHT HOUR SUSPENSION. Yes EIGHT as in 8. That was so shocking. What a slap in the face for anyone not a white face in Lower Merion and concerning for anyone in my humble opinion, women especially, travelling through Lower Merion in their cars. That woman was also a victim no matter what else happened. What happened to de-escalation tactics?

So then the public weighted in, demanding change. Interesting to listen to was former Commissioner Brian Gordon who is a very kind, fair, and thoughtful human being. He spoke about things proposed in 2015 that never really happened. Among other things. Some commissioner unfamiliar to me named McComb was actually kind of rude to him.

The other commissioner comment that smacked of hail fellow well met and worse, was Scott Zelov. He has been on that board a long time , maybe too long at this point, sadly. Prior to the board of commissioners he ran unsuccessfully for Lower Merion Township School Board at least once. His comments make one believe 100% in term limits. And he should be ashamed of himself. He thought an 8 hour suspension was jolly good. And talked about the charges against this woman. Does what they did justify the things they charged her with or does what they charged her with justify what they did?

I watched that video taken while that woman was being put through it by Lower Merion cops. It was terrifying. The woman was terrified.

I am not being a drama queen writing that this made me want to scream in outrage, cry, and be terrified. What is going on with Lower Merion Police Department?

I never talked about Lower Merion and their police really before this. I have law enforcement in my family so I am extraordinarily aware of how difficult a career path it is and I have respect for the badge. But what happens when you feel that some of those who wear the badge don’t have respect for you and others? Do your feelings matter, no matter who you are? Also note from jump I am not saying police shouldn’t do their jobs. But was this thing that happened really good policing and good police?

Regardless of what that woman may or may not have done – which didn’t seem to show up on the video, did she deserve to be treated the way she was? Listen to the meeting. Think on it. I do not think the racial and civic divide in Lower Merion can get much worse, and I too remember the issues of the past that residents commenting referred to.

Lower Merion is indeed a dumpster fire right now. They need a new police committee, and they need to look at the Township Manager Ernie McNeely. There seems to be a lot of chaos since he came to town, which is astounding because he was supposed to the best thing since sliced bread, right? As for Superintendent Mike McGrath, I think for his own sake he should retire. I mean does he really have control over his department or respect from his force?

This is horrifying and sad all at the same time. And while they throw the book at the black woman who was dragged around and tased, where is the balance on the inappropriate actions of the police officer and the officers who didn’t step in and pull him off of that woman?

Lower Merion Commissioners, you need to represent all segments of the population equally and you know you aren’t. You need to do the best by all residents not just your popular kids.

The longer this issue goes on, the sadder and worse it gets. Did I mention dumpster fire?

I can’t say anymore. What more is there to say?

le sigh… (or the day après le shock)

So yesterday, Savvy Main Line blew up the Internet.

The swift rise and steep fall of a Wayne shopkeeper

FEBRUARY 28, 2023 / BY CAROLINE O’HALLORAN / 43 COMMENTS /

Hillary White Jean wafted into Wayne on a cloud of luxury perfume, designer heels, extravagant cars and personal charm.

Sixteen months later, her splashy store, JWH Boutique, departed in the December darkness, leaving a string of angry landlords, fashion vendors and small business owners in her wake.

Court and police records show that Jean:

  • has declared bankruptcy five times in three states since 2011, most recently on Jan. 30 of this year.
  • has been repeatedly sued for alleged nonpayment of bills and has had at least four court judgments entered against her since 2021.
  • has been arrested three times since arriving in Wayne: twice last summer for passing fraudulent checks and once three weeks ago for witness intimidation, harassment and other charges at her preliminary criminal hearing before Radnor District Judge Leon Hunter. The Delaware County DA and Radnor and Newtown police have all confirmed ongoing investigations of Jean.

To the public, she was a smart businesswoman, a former hairdresser from Haiti with a sharp eye for style and a winning personality who worked hard for the designer clothes she wore and the Range Rover she drove.

Jean marketed herself as both “the first black business owner in Wayne” and a fashion pioneer who was upping the Main Line’s style game. “We’re bringing Rodeo Drive to the Main Line,” she once told SAVVY with a 100-watt smile.

Everyone and everything in Jean’s orbit looked the part. Her clothes were chic, her stores were sleek, her website polished.

And the media lapped it up.

She ran prominent ads for a year in Philadelphia Style, including a pricey full-page spotlight as a “Dynamic Woman” of 2022.

She made the rounds of TV news shows and newsmagazines.

And she threw showy shindigs, most notably last fall’s “Cocktails and Fabulosity” party to celebrate the opening of her second Wayne location. The e-vite asked guests to “dress to impress;” she hired a “Real Housewife of NYC” to up the glam factor….….But court and police records and our interviews with multiple sources reveal a woman who repeatedly changed names, addresses and businesses and stiffed people and companies whose fashions she sold, whose space she rented, and whose services she engaged.

In the last two years, Hillary White Jean has opened and closed three stores: Lady M Boutique (M was for millionaire) in Glen Mills, HJ Boutique at 106 E. Lancaster Ave. in Wayne (now the home of Wheelhouse Cards) and JWH Boutique at 209 E. Lancaster Ave. at the former Mattress Factory/Tehrani Rug Co. building, also in Wayne.

At 3,700 sq. ft., JWH Boutique was her most largest and most exalted emporium yet. Like the others, it lasted mere months until, faced with a court-ordered repossession by her landlords,  Reuben, Benjamin and Youdi Tehrani, she quietly moved out on New Year’s Eve…..According to her own handwritten bankruptcy filing, Jean owes nearly $1.4 million to 27 different entities. While the bankruptcy claim is pending, creditors must stop collection efforts. If the bankruptcy goes through, Jean’s debts will be wiped out.

Among her listed creditors in addition to her two Wayne landlords: $44,189.85 to the fashion label Camilla Australia (a top vendor), $46,000 for a Land Rover car loan, $40,000 to Modern Luxury (owner of Philadelphia Style), $7,210.96 to PR agent Sarah Doheny of YUB PR, and a total of roughly $10,000 to the party planner, florist, and photo/video team she hired for “Cocktails and Fabulosity.”

In her bankruptcy filing, Jean claimed these were all personal – not business – debts. She filed under the last name “Jean Joseph.” On every other court and police record we reviewed, she is named “Hillary White Jean.”…On June 10, 2022, Jean was arrested, charged with four counts of passing bad checks and one count of deceptive business practices. According to court records, she was confined to Delaware County Prison briefly on July 18 until she was able to post $10,000 bail.

On August 15, Radnor Police arrested Jean a second time and charged her with passing bad checks and “theft by unlawful taking”…She did, however, attend her Feb. 9 preliminary hearing on criminal misdemeanor charges in Delaware County District Court. The hearing never happened because witnesses saw Jean moving closer to and pointing her iPad at alleged victim Volpe Beringer in the waiting area, presumably to take photos in violation of posted PA law, according to Reuben Tehrani, Volpe Beringer and a third alleged victim who wishes to remain anonymous.

Jean was also overheard repeatedly saying “bitch” as she spoke to a companion “in a foreign language,” according to the Newtown Township police report.

At Judge Leon Hunter’s direction, Jean was arrested. Police charged her with witness intimidation (a felony), harassment, disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a recording device in court, the report states.

If convicted, she could be fined, put on house arrest or jailed.

So once we all got over oh le shock because of all the schools for scandal which have popped up on the Main Line, this one is a true doozy position, yes? So this morning, this is what popped up on Instagram:

I will admit that gave me pause.

jwhboutique

Yesterday, there was an article that has been published about me on the mainline with a whole bunch of lies.

But NO ONE bothered to call , email to ask me “what’s my side of the story “
But yet so quick to publish and judge.

I have RECEIPTS, EMAILS and TEXTS messages to show my side.

Remember, there’s always two sides to every story .
#alsharpton #protest #blackonthemainline

I thought wow, she’s playing a card I didn’t see coming. Maybe I should have. We’ll start with the obvious: explain the “lies”? One of the folks she is in dispute with has shared this which was posted on social media:

So….there was also NYC. Found this video, which if it ends up like other social media will disappear, but for now there is also “in the beginning“:

So obviously this is an extraordinarily bright and resourceful woman, yes? So why did it all lead to this? And how? And her post today, which I am today was maybe not the only one? Is she someone who has literally been caught doing not such nice things and her response is to play the race card?

Yes there ARE two sides to every story BUT #alsharpton #protest #blackmainline REALLY? Is she saying this happened to her because she is black? Is she trying to get a civil rights thing going to cover up what was reported or distract from it? That just sat funny with me. So I called black friends to ask them their opinions. After all, I am a white middle aged woman and I don’t know what it is to be anything other me.

I spoke with black and bi-racial friends. I sent them the article from Savvy and the screen shot above. I asked them their thoughts. These friends are from various areas, including the Main Line (and not from living there as of five minutes ago.) They all said they found what she implied distasteful and one friend in particular said that it is wrong and just bad form to cry wolf after getting caught doing something potentially terrible and saying it’s a racial issue. A black female friend said black women have to work twice as hard as other women so why do something that may be classified as God don’t like ugly?

I marvel at this whole sad tale, and it is sad. Again, obviously a bright woman, so what happened? What is the disconnect? There is a lot wrong with the Main Line, no one can ever deny that. But to imply if she was white this wouldn’t happen? Nope sorry. If anything, I think she actually didn’t research the area she was coming into enough. And underestimated what would happen when she went from a smaller stage in Glen Mills and Delaware prior to that to a larger stage in Wayne, PA. And she started in New York, right? Huge city, blink and people are onto something else. But the Main Line? Over priced fishbowl. You could be a pink pussycat, it would still happen.

And let’s talk about that whole coming to Wayne. She got lots of press. She had a publicist who placed it well. That put a giant spotlight on her. Television and magazine and more. I have to wonder if the designer Caycee Black from Project Runway really hit her DMs up on Instagram?

The Main Line is a funny place. Always has been. However, even though it is more nouveau Main Line these days, you still have to watch how hard you try to climb. People keep book. It’s true. I actually have warned some others in the past who didn’t pay attention to that. While they didn’t have the scandal factor, it still didn’t work out how they planned. But this lady? Check her debtors list for the bankruptcy, it’s quite the who’s who. And seems like most aren’t talking. Why?

One thing I do not get is how did this all get so far? It’s genuinely a head scratcher for sure. Maybe we will never know. Maybe she will move away and the scandal will be forgotten. Except this happened in Radnor Township. Tongues wag there as fast and furious as in Lower Merion….and well when you pose for faux society photos….and I did have to laugh that these were still posted on the photog’s website of “society” because face it, Main Line “society” as it were doesn’t really exist anymore anyway.

Is this a story that will grow legs, or die on the Main Line and off? Too early to tell but I have to ask, are they opening a store in the Hamptons? If she thinks the Main Line is a tough crowd, oy wait until the bloom falls off the rose up there, right? Is she still pals with her housewives?

Oh pass le popcorn….has anyone called Dateline?
